ICYMI: NFL News – August 2nd 2016

The latest news from the camps brings us that little bit closer to game time. Find out who's in, who's out, and who's got epic comedy game.

Tuesday brings us another day of training camp woes. Further signings, and shenanigans from within the training camps. Whilst everyone else seems to be focusing on HOF placements for the year, we’re taking a look at everything else that might have slipped under the radar for you.

Dante Fowler looking good –

The Jaguars are looking hopeful for 2015 draft, first round selection, Dante Fowler. The DE pass rusher looks to have fully recovered from a nasty ACL tear that put him out for the entirety of his Rookie season. With training camp in full swing, he seems to be comfortably putting moves on the offensive line, and has reported that he is close to recapturing his form. That puts 3 dangerous looking edge rushers on the books for the Jaguars. Maybe it’s not all hype?

Michael Bennett clarifies –

After making a statement that not enough players get involved in social issues, giving Cam Newton as an example, Bennett has come back to the mic to clarify the meaning of his words. In some major backpedalling, after it appears some people may have taken umbrage at his comments, the Seahawks DE clarified what he meant. It appears his intention was to encourage fellow players to become more outspoken in their support of social drives and activities, and use their celebrity status to leverage their fan base into supporting social movements. Rather than trying to shame them for apparent inactivity. So yeah, do more of the things.

Cowboys turning into ER –

Tyrone Crawford has been confirmed as unavailable for practice. The Defensive lineman has picked up an injury to his back, and currently has no timeline on a return to the game. This news piles misery on top of misery for the Dallas team, with their defence already devastated by bans and injuries right across the board. If things carry on this way, you could be looking at a Cowboys Defence entirely consisting of practice squad, third stringers, and one year signings.

The Chiefs attempt humour –

In a hilarious turn of events, the Chiefs sent out an impostor to pretend he was Andy Reid. The impersonator came out, bumbled out some lines for 30 seconds, and was then ushered off stage by the real Reid. Hilarious, I’m sure you’ll agree. I guess you had to be there.

Williams likes Walking Dead

DeAngelo Williams likes the AMC tv series, adapted from the Kirkman graphic novel series. How much, you ask? So much, that he themed his wedding around it. The Steelers Running Back married Risalyn, amongst friends and family, all heavily made up in prosthetics.

Johnson picks up injury –

WR for the Chargers, Stevie Johnson, has picked up a torn meniscus in the San Diego training camp. This puts the team under pressure, as he was a major part of their aerial attack last season. He will look for a second opinion, to confirm the damage, and will then turn to surgery to try and accelerate his recovery. Even without him, you can still expect the Chargers to be looking dangerous on the passing game.

Reggie Bush goes to Bills –

Rex Ryan has signed veteran running back Reggie Bush to a one year contract deal for the Bills. The 31 year old Heisman trophy winner played for the 49ers last season, and pulled 28 yards out of eight runs. It’s clear that this move is in order to protect the run game early on in the season, with two of their long term RB corp out of action for the first few games, and Ryan has faith in the veteran to deliver what they need in the interim.
