Brett Favre’s Hall of Fame Induction A Powerful One

Brett Favre delivered a speech that inspired and truly set himself apart from many.

Saturday evening in Canton, Ohio six individuals were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2016.  But the standout inductee of this year’s Hall of Fame class was none other than the former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre as he went on to deliver a near 40 minute speech in front of the Canton, Ohio crowd.

Although, he plied his trade for the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings in the latter stages of his career he made it clear that he would always be a Packer. Stating, “Make no mistake about it: I will be remembered as a Packer.” Additionally in delivering a long and powerful speech Favre made sure to mention all his loved ones including his wife who had introduced him on the night. In a perfect world, he would have wanted his father to introduce him and he acknowledged that fact to the fans present at the ceremony. His father had meant so much to him and to this day still feels his presence. When speaking about his father, who passed away in 2003, Favre could not hold back the tears. Clearly shown by the emotions alone, his father was the most motivational person to drive him throughout his career and life in general. “I would not be here before you today without my father, there’s no doubt whatsoever” stated Favre. Even went on to tell an untold story about how one night he had overheard his father speaking to coaches after one of his last high school football games and telling them that his son would “redeem himself… he has it in him.” Those words motivated and fueled Favre throughout the span of his career in order to make sure he made his father proud and did he ever. With a Super Bowl win and three Most Valuable Player awards there is no arguing that Favre made many people proud, not just his father. Favre is a prime example of hard work and belief. As he mentioned, he only received one scholarship offer to play college ball and it was from Southern Mississippi University. He took advantage of the sole opportunity he had reached and surpassed limits that some could have never imagined…that is except his father and himself.

Concluding his speech he reached out to the younger generation to let them know to always do their best now because time flies and by the time you wish you would have done things differently it is already too late. The living legend continues to inspire us all and for those who followed him closely could learn a lot from the man.
