Arian Foster ran out of Houston
Adam Schefter today reported that the Houston Texans have cut their all-time leading rusher, Arian Foster.
Big move: Arian Foster has been told the Texans are releasing him, per a source close to him. After great run, Foster finished in Houston.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise as at the Combine, when asked wheter Arian Foster would be on the roster next year, Rick Smith said: “As it relates to all the free agent conversations, I’m never really going to tell you one way or the other what we are doing, but I will tell you this: his salary is not a reason why we would cut Arian.” Regardless of money though, there was legitimate reason to believe Foster’s time in Houston was done. He’s played all 16 games just 2 out of 6 seasons, he is verging on 30 years old and he is currently recovering from a torn Achilles. Nevertheless, to cut your franchise leader in rushing yards and touchdowns is a pretty bold move when what is left on the roster leaves a lot to be desired. That though, may suggest that the Texans see someone in free agency or the draft that they believe will be an apt replacement for Foster; Matt Forte, Doug Martin, Lamar Miller, Ezekial Elliot or Derrick Henry? All are possibilities.
Panthers cut long time DE Charles Johnson
The Panthers have announced that they have cut DE Charles Johnson.
The Panthers have released veteran DE Charles Johnson, who ranks second in team history with 63.5 sacks.

Unlike Foster, this move is likely motivated by money. The Panthers will save $11 million against the cap and pay just $4 million in dead money by releasing Johnson. The Panthers will now surely be targeting DE’s in free agency or the draft as they will now be without Jared Allen and Charles Johnson. Luckily for them, the defensive line class in this years draft is incredibly deep, so they probably had their eye on that throughout this decision.
