Mike Mularkey is to be given the Tennessee Titans head coaching vacancy full time, according to Adam Schefter. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/688496385784713216 Mularkey has been serving as interim since the firing of Ken Whisenhunt mid way through the season, and his first decision will be what to do with the number one overall pick in this year’s draft. Other candidates considered included Detroit’s defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and Tennessee DC Ray Horton. Before taking up the interim position, Mularkey served as tight ends coach for the Titans. In two previous stints as head coach, with Buffalo and Jacksonville, he amassed an overall record of 18-39. Tennessee do not, at least, have questions at quarterback, with Marcus Mariota showing great promise throughout the year. With highly rated tackle prospect Laremy Tunsil available in the draft, Mariota is likely to find himself with enough protection to excel under Mularkey.
