Top 15 NBA Free Agents: Pau Gasol

Free Agent center Pau Gasol will enter the summer market in the quest to find a team for the upcoming season. Whoever lands the big man will get consistent productivity. In the 2015-2016 season, Gasol averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds at 35 years of age. Gasol is one the most skilled big mans in the league with his great passing and scoring ability. Although, leaning towards the end of his career, Gasol still can play huge role in a team who is need of a center. With age also comes experience and Gasol certainly is no exception with two NBA titles already under his belt. Ideally, a team who is need of that last piece in their squad in order to become a championship contending team should pick up Gasol. San Antonio is one possible destination for Pau Gasol and probably the best option for him to chase another championship ring. The Spurs organization, undoubtedly, manages a team like no other. Year after year they are in the midst of competing for a championship. Although, whether Gasol would garner respectable minutes would depend on the 40-year-old Tim Duncan’s decision to retire or not. If Duncan were to retire, then Gasol could slip into the starting line-up perfectly and give the Spurs another offensive option alongside Kawhi Leonard. Memphis potentially is an option as well. Of course, Memphis is where Gasol started his NBA career and made a name for himself. With Mike Conley pursuing free agency as well, the Grizzlies will be in need of offensive options and Gasol provides plenty of offense. Additionally, given that his younger brother, Marc Gasol currently plays for the Grizzlies, coming to Memphis would be an attractive option for Pau. New York provide Gasol an interesting prospect as the Knicks have recently acquired former teammate, Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls. Aside from the Knicks having plenty of cap space to sign Gasol, they also are in the process of forming a solid squad with Kristaps Porzingis, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose. Moreover, Gasol played under Knicks president Phil Jackson in Los Angeles so that may factor in the decision.
