Marc Gasol opts to sit out of 2016 Olympics

The Spanish center will not play for his country at the tournament.

Marc Gasol is officially out of the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to ESPN and other sources.

The 7’ 1” Grizzly injured his foot in the regular season and hasn’t been able to recover in time.

Spain will miss him hugely, as he’s arguably their best player and one of the top centers in the NBA at this moment in time.

Memphis Grizzlies fans will be relieved to hear of this news as they hope for Gasol to be fit and healthy for the new season, where great results are expected after the arrival of Chandler Parsons and news of Mike Conley remaining in the ‘Home of the Blues’.

Last season the Spaniard averaged 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 52 games before breaking his foot.
