FanDuel & DraftKings NBA Daily Picks: Fantasy lineup & advice 10/27/17

Tonight's battle of New York between the Knicks and Nets has the potential to produce a handful of DFS studs.

PG – Spencer Dinwiddie, Brooklyn Nets @ New York Knicks

Spencer Dinwiddie made the most out of his opportunity to start against the Cleveland Cavaliers with D’Angelo Russell out with a knee injury. Dinwiddie went off for a career-high 22 points, with five boards, six assists, and four buckets from deep in 32 minutes of action.

If Dinwiddie didn’t experience much resistance from the Cavs’ defense, then what will he encounter against the Knicks? Russell remains doubtful to return for that matchup, and if he does miss out once again, Dinwiddie has the potential to go off for another huge game at Madison Square Garden.

SG – DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Lakers

DeMar DeRozan has gradually ramped up his fantasy production this season. He’s averaging 27 points over his last three games, and has nine steals through his last two. A career-high six of those came against the Golden State Warriors, where he also added 24 points and six assists.

DeRozan’s not a lock to provide those types of assist numbers every night, but he still has 50-point potential tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers. DeRozan should have a little extra juice as he goes back home. He dropped 31 on the Lakers in his visit to Staples last season and he’s also set to face a very generous Lakers backcourt which has given up the third-most fantasy points against opposing two-guards this season.

SF – DeMarre Carroll, Brooklyn Nets @ New York Knicks

It might be time to say DeMarre Carroll is for real. The veteran small forward has been a revelation for the Nets this season. He’s now scored at least 17 points and hit at least two 3-pointers in four straight games. He’s also contributing in terms of rebounds (6.6) and steals (2.2) to far exceed his fantasy value thus far. If Russell is out tonight against the Knicks, Carroll figures to be yet another beneficiary for a Brooklyn team that continues to push the pace and churn out extra possessions.

PF – Kristaps Porzingis, New York Knicks vs Brooklyn Nets

Kristaps Porzingis also has the potential to benefit from Brooklyn’s breakneck pace. The Unicorn fell back down to earth in a big way last time out against the Boston Celtics. After back-to-back 30-plus point games to start the season, Porzingis went just 3-of-14 for 12 points and five boards.

Don’t expect back-to-back bad games from Kristaps, though, especially not against a Nets team that just doesn’t have the personnel to prevent opposing power forwards from torching them. They’re giving up the most fantasy points to fours, just above the Lakers. This game is tailor-made for a bounce-back from Porzingis, and you shouldn’t waste the opportunity to take advantage of it.

C – Jakob Poeltl, Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Lakers

Jakob Poeltl has seen an uptick in minutes following the injury to Jonas Valanciunas, and he’s taking full advantage of it. The Austrian big man has had back-to-back double-doubles on the road against the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors. He completely dominated the Warriors with 11 offensive rebounds to go along with 12 points.

Poeltl is the sort of low-salary, high-upside play that could allow you to spend a bit more on another star in DFS. His upside will be that little bit higher when he faces off against a Lakers team that will push the pace even more than the Warriors. That should lead to more opportunities to grab rebounds and put up another impressive fantasy night.
