Yesterday was a crazy day in baseball as Chris Sale failed to bring his Boston Red Sox closer to the AL East crown while the Chicago Cubs fell short in clinching the NL Central. What should have been fantasy winners turned out to be busts, so let’s rebound today.
Who should you pick?
Best DFS MLB pitchers for September 27, 2017
A tempting option in New York Yankees ace Luis Severino takes the mound against the Tampa Bay Rays today, but he only lasted three innings in his previous start. Plus, New York may limit his innings in case he’s needed for the upcoming AL Wild Card Game, so your money will be best spent on any of the following arms.
Justin Verlander @ Texas Rangers: $13,600 DraftKings, FPPG- 19.6
The Houston Astros are battling for the top seed in the American League and are facing a freshly eliminated Texas Rangers squad, so count on Verlander to continue the dominant run he has had since coming over from the Detroit Tigers. The man is 4-0 with an incredible 0.64 ERA in an Astros uniform and has a combined WAR of 6.1 this season, and there is zero reason to believe he will stumble against a team playing for nothing but pride at this point.
Jon Gray vs Miami Marlins: $8,000 DraftKings, FPPG- 16.7
Gray is the ace of the Colorado Rockies, who could well be in a tooth and nail battle for the second NL Wild Card berth until the last day of the season. That means every game should be treated as a must-win and with home-field advantage against the Marlins, he should be a lock to bring home the win ahead of an off-day.
Adalberto Mejia @ Cleveland Indians: $5,300 DraftKings, FPPG- 10.4
Mejia is far from a top-tier pitcher, but his Minnesota Twins can officially clinch a Wild Card berth with a win over Cleveland tonight. The Tribe are countering with Danny Salazar, not one of their best arms. Minnesota is also coming off of a big win at Progressive Field last night and has the momentum advantage, so don’t be surprised if Mejia turns in the performance of a lifetime this evening.
Best DFS MLB hitters for September 27, 2017
And on a day when pitching options may seem limited, there are still some great hitters available!
Mike Trout @ Chicago White Sox: $5,500 DraftKings, FPPG- 11.3
Trout’s Los Angeles Angels will officially be eliminated with a Minnesota win tonight, but that doesn’t take away from how he looks like he’s breaking out of a slump. The two-time MVP has home runs in back to back games and could soon be at the point where he just wants to end his season on a high note. Against the lowly White Sox, pick him!
Gary Sanchez vs Tampa Bay Rays: $5,000 DraftKings, FPPG- 9.3
The New York Yankees are running hot enough to where Sanchez and outfielder Aaron Judge ($5,700, 10.8) could be interchangeable picks, but Sanchez has been running hot for two months and has driven in 39 of his 90 RBI since August 1. The man also has three home runs and five RBI against the Rays this year and with New York still in the thick of the AL East race, count on him to be a spark in the lineup.
Domingo Santana vs Cincinnati Reds: $4,900 DraftKings, FPPG- 8.4
The Brewers are fighting hard to steal the second NL Wild Card spot from the Colorado Rockies and have a cake matchup with the last-place Cincinnati Reds both tonight and tomorrow, meaning Santana’s big bat should be considered. The big righty has set new career highs with 29 home runs and 83 RBI this year and has three longballs against the Reds this year despite batting just .185 against the team. The fact is Milwaukee will have its foot on the gas all the way to the floor for the rest of the season, so Santana is a fine option for today.

And speaking of the Milwaukee Brewers…
Milwaukee Brewers vs Homer Bailey (CIN)
Sorry, Reds fans, but there is no reason to have faith in Homer Bailey (5-9, 6.96 ERA) with the Brewers playing for literally everything right now. On top of Santana, Travis Shaw ($5,000) and Ryan Braun ($4,600) need to be owned.
