Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Lineup advice for August 14, 2017

Monday means a travel day, but with 11 games on the slate who are we advising you to start in your DFS lineups?

A 10-game schedule turns into an 11-game one as Boston and Cleveland have a makeup game in Fenway. Still, there are several big players unavailable for today. So who should you be getting in your lineup?

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for August 14, 2017

There is only one ace tonight, but you have to start two pitchers, so who should you start?

Zack Greinke vs Houston Astros: $10,800 DraftKings, FPPG – 21.8

Houston used to be a no-go team, even for a pitcher like Zack Greinke, but in recent weeks they have been a delight to pick against. They are 7-13 in their last 20 games averaging 4.95 runs a game. That number is inflated by three double-digit games that came against scrub starters and without those three outliers the average drops to 3.29 a game.

Greinke comes into tonight on the back two uneven starts against the Cubs and Dodgers, which bumped his ERA up 30 points. However, he left those two games with 16 strikeouts, and against a struggling Houston lineup he may well come away with double-digit strikeouts and barely a blemish to his ERA.

Michael Fulmer @ Texas Rangers: $7,900 DraftKings, FPPG – 16.6

Michael Fulmer is having a strong second season in the Majors, He is posting a best 3.43 FIP, with a 1.126 WHIP and 3.59 ERA. A worry for anyone who picks Fulmer tonight is his low K/9, just 6.4. He has had 8+ strikeouts in just two games and hasn’t broken double-digits all year. The Rangers have averaged 4.47 runs per game in their last 15, but Fulmer specializes in stifling offenses.

Jake Odorizzi @ Toronto Blue Jays: $7,600 DraftKings, FPPG – 12.7

Odorizzi is on a roll. He’s posted a 3.00 ERA in the last three starts, averaging five innings an outing with four strikeouts. He’s no guarantee to do well, with one good and one poor start against the Blue Jays to his name this season, but on a travel day with a light pitching selection, he is a potential star.

Best DFS MLB Hitters for August 14, 2017

While the red-hot bat of Giancarlo Stanton is available, it is also a very expensive option. If you want something a little cheaper, we have the bats for you.

Khris Davis vs Kansas City Royals: $4,500 DraftKings, FPPG – 9.0

Khris Davis is having an excellent August. He’s hitting .256 but with three homers, three doubles, and a triple. He will be boom or bust, but against Jake Junis’ 4.70 ERA, 4.6% HR against, and an opposing slash line of .265/.344/.465, he could well take off tonight.

Gerardo Parra vs Atlanta Braves: $4,300 DraftKings, FPPG – 7.4

With 52 RBI and a .345/.369/.524 slash line, Parra has quietly been having himself a good year.

Now he’s back in Denver for a series, and while he’s taking on Julio Teheran, he is cheap for the level of production he can provide.

Aaron Hicks vs New York Mets: $3,800 DraftKings, FPPG – 8.9

Hicks is back in the lineup and doing well. He picked up his 11th home run of the year on Friday against the Red Sox and stole his eighth base last night. Now in a must-win Subway Series, the .280 hitter is a vital cog in the Yankees machine.

Best stack options

Which lineups have the best matchup for you to exploit tonight?

Philadelphia Phillies @ Travis Wood (SDP)

Yep. The answer is the Phillies. They are not a great lineup, but Travis Wood is posting a 6.71 ERA this year, along with a 1.699 WHIP and massive 4.2 BB/9. Along with Odubel Herrera ($4,500), Cesar Hernandez ($4,200), Freddy Galvis ($3,800), and Nick Williams ($3,800) all cheap stack options.
