Twenty-five years ago England’s top flight league was rebranded in a way that would change world football forever.
The old English First Division became the Premier League, a league based around the commercialisation of football, TV broadcasting and superstar players from around the globe.
Since its launch in 1992, the league has been graced with some of the finest footballing talents ever to walk the planet.
Here RealSport takes a look at the top five all-time Premier League players and narrows the group down to the one best player of this special era.
1 Thierry Henry
In first place as the greatest player ever to play in Premier League history is Thierry Henery. The Frenchman was utterly breathtaking during his years at Arsenal, guiding the Gunners to two league titles, scoring 175 goals in the process.
During his 11 seasons as an Arsenal player, Henry picked up the Golden Boot four times and earned two Player of the Season awards.
He was a magician on the pitch with the ability to score every type of goal and the imagination and arrogance to score goals that most normal people can't even dream of.
2 Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney comes in at second, narrowly missing out on the top spot. The striker burst onto the Premier League scene for his boyhood club, Everton, aged just 16 with his technical talent and raw athleticism for everyone to see.
Since his debut in 2002, Rooney has gone on to be one of the best strikers in world football and a true Premier League legend, leading Manchester United to five league trophies.
3 Cristiano Ronaldo
Sitting in third place we have one of the best players in football history, the goal machine, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese frontman spent six seasons at Manchester United, picking up two Player of the Season awards and lifting the Premier League trophy three times.
His beastly athleticism, skill and deadly strike made Ronaldo an unstoppable force, leading to his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid for £80m in 2009 where he managed to reach even greater heights.
4 Ryan Giggs
With 632 appearances, 109 goals and 162 assists, Ryan Giggs comes in at fourth.
The Welsh winger won a whopping 13 Premier League titles in his time at Manchester United, more than any other player in the history of the league.
Giggs was part of Manchester United's core team that, under Sir Alex Ferguson, dominated the Premier League for over a decade.
5 Steven Gerrard
In fifth place, we have Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard. The Liverpudlian is an icon for both English football and the Premier League.
His passion and ability to command central midfield, running box-to-box, making crunching tackles and smashing in 30-yard screamers made him a truly thrilling player to watch.
