17:30 (BST), Saturday 14th October, Mendizorrotza, Barcelona
Alaves got off to a flyer under Gianni De Biasi and they are finally off the mark after going six games without picking up a single point.
Real Sociedad enjoyed an excellent start to the season, but they are now five without a win in all competitions.
They will be desperate to get back to good form, but can they defeat an Alaves with renewed belief under their new boss?
Last time out
Levante 0-2 Alaves
Alaves picked up their first win of the season against a Levante side who had started the season excellently.
Goals from Munir and Medran were enough to secure all three points and to take Alaves off 0, having lost every one of their first six.
The result still leaves Alaves three points from safety, while Levante drop to mid-table, despite flirting with the top four for a short time.
Real Sociedad 4-4 Real Betis
The game of the weekend unfolded at Anoeta before the international break as eight goals left the teams where they started, on level terms.
Real Betis took the lead three times across the course of the afternoon through Sanabria, Joaquin and Sergio Leon.
However, goals from Willian Jose, Oyarzabal, Prieto and crucially Diego Llorente ended Sociedad’s disastrous losing run.
Alaves are starting to get their squad back following a number of injuries in the midst of their disastrous start.
Having said that, Laguardia and Hector Hernandez do remain out for this one, but there will be a return for Pina.
Real Sociedad lineup
Real Sociedad also have injury worries of their own with Agirretxe and Zurutuza both confirmed as absent.
Inigo Martinez, Adnan Januzaj and Jon Guridi are also all doubts, but all have a chance of featuring following recent injuries.
Key Battle: Munir Vs Willian Jose
Munir has had his injury troubles this season but he managed to get onto the scoresheet last time out and he will be hoping to get another here.
He is usually deployed on the front of the attacking three and the two strikers will be key here, given their pace and ability to get in behind.
Willian Jose is enjoying a good season with Real Sociedad and he will be looking to continue that here against Alaves
He has pace and power in the centre of that front three and Alaves will do well to keep him quiet on Saturday.
Can Alaves follow up their first win?
Alaves will know the importance of following up their first win with a another good performance and preferably another point return.
It won’t be easy given Real Sociedad’s threat, but at home and with the form of the away side, they have a chance.
Can Real Sociedad end the nightmare?
Real Sociedad were being tipped as the ones to watch following their excellent start to the season but it’s quickly come tumbling down.
They are now five without a win in all competitions and while they showed excellent character against Real Betis, but their defending leaves a lot to the imagination.
Prediction: Alaves 1-2 Real Sociedad
Alaves have a real shot at home in front of their excellent support, but this could prove a little too much, even after their first win.
Real Sociedad have plenty of talent across their squad and with their desire to end their poor run, they should come through this with a win.
