We’ve already detailed the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos roads to the Super Bowl and now its time to see how Madden 16 thinks the game will play out. The AFC West Champion Denver Broncos went 12-4 during the regular season and Peyton overcame one last battle with Tom Brady in a tight AFC Championship game to make it to this Sunday’s showdown. The Panthers on the other hand had no issues making it to the big show after demolishing opponents en route to a 15-1 regular season topped off with an NFC South Division title. Will Cam Newton get his first Super Bowl and stamp himself as an elite QB or will Peyton Manning ride off into the sunset a Super Bowl Champion for the second time?
The Panthers started the game off with the ball and Cam Newton immediately made his impact felt. He led a solid series of plays the field which resulted in an opening drive Field Goal. Just like that and it was 3-0. Peyton Manning came out firing on his turn to impress the Super Bowl 50 crowd in San Francisco but the Bronco offense couldn’t muster up any momentum. Cam got the ball back and instantly led the Panthers back into Broncos territory. From there it was all about the Panthers offense which capped a long scoring drive on a Cam Newton rushing touchdown. The game would remain scoreless as the two teams entered halftime at 10-0 in favour of the Panthers. The Broncos started with the ball in the second half and went to work. Peyton was able to lead his team down the field and connected on a 32 yard touchdown pass to Sanders to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Panthers tacked on another Field Goal to make it a 13-7 game heading into the final minutes of the third quarter. Peyton once again came out firing on all cylinders when on one play, the play that would factor majorly in deciding the game, he was picked off. The Carolina defense, as it has done all year stepped up big time. Newton got the ball near midfield and was able to connect on a 17 yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn Jr, 20-7 Carolina. The Broncos came out in the fourth quarter looking like a desperate team and were able to nab a Field Goal. A defensive stop for the Broncos then permitted Peyton to drive his offense in Carolina red zone territory. On a big 3rd and 5 from the 17 yard line, Peyton connected with Thomas for a touchdown to make it a 20-17 game in favour of the Panthers. With just under 8 minutes to go the Panthers were again forced to settle for a Field Goal and extended their lead to 23-17. It was now up to the Broncos to respond. Slowly but surely, their offense was making their way down the field when Peyton attempted a screen pass to C.J. Anderson. The pass was complete, Anderson was breaking up when he was met by a Carolina defender, all of a sudden, FUMBLE! This was it, if Carolina could recover that loose ball, it’s all over and sure enough they did! Carolina, up 23-17 with 4 minutes left had a Super Bowl 50 title within their reach. Cam drove down the field and did what he does best, he charged up the middle on a 7 yard rush into the end zone! Carolina went up 30-17 and went on to win Super Bowl 50 by that score.
