NFC Wild Card Game #1
Seattle Seahawks @ Minnesota Vikings, Sunday January 10th 1:05pm EST
Today’s action moves us onto Sunday’s first NFC Wild Card game featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings. Yesterday saw the Texans topping the Chiefs in OT and the Steelers winning a thriller over the Bengals which also needed extra time. The Seahawks come into this game as the defending NFC Champs but fell short in the NFC West to the Arizona Cardinals. The Vikings on the other hand enter the contest as NFC North Champs having defeated the Packers in Week 17 to win the division for the first time since 2009.
This match-up is one that’s hard to predict depending on which teams show up this Sunday’s tilt. A slow first quarter was highlighted by a 57 yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to Tyler Lockette (highlight) for a 7-0 lead. The Vikings O answered with a field goal before Russell Wilson fired another TD pass to Lockette, this time for 13 yards and a 14-3 lead. Minnesota inched a bit closer with a field goal as time expired in the first half leaving the score at 14-6. Both teams failed to score out of halftime in a defensive battle throughout the scoreless 3rd. The Seahawks started the 4th quarter with the ball but the Minnesota D answered the call. Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson then took over leading the O down the field and finding the end-zone to make it 14-12. We all know what happens next. AP took the hand-off on the two point conversion play, ran left and into the end-zone to tie the game at 14 with a little over one minute to go. The ensuing kick off was returned 85 yards by Doug Baldwin to set up a Seattle field goal with 43 ticks left (highlight). With 1 second remaining, down 17-14, Teddy Bridgewater launched a hail mary bomb but to no avail. Just like that the Seahawks took the road victory and marched on into next week’s NFC divisional round. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7iLaKb5Rls&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51TGo1q-rcU&feature=youtu.be
