AFC Championship Game

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos – Sunday January 24th, 3:05pm EST, CBS

The Preview

We’re back with our RealSport Madden 16 preview of this year’s playoffs. Our Madden predictions thus far have gone 6-2 this postseason. Today’s first match-up is the AFC Championship game which bodes to be a classic battle. What can be more exciting than Tom Brady squaring off against Peyton Manning, in what could very well be the last time we see these legends go toe to toe. The Patriots will visit Mile High Stadium having defeated the red hot Kansas City Chiefs last week in New England. The Broncos on the other hand enter the contest having just defeated Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It all comes down to one game, winner goes to the Super Bowl. Let’s get right to it with our Madden 16 Playoff Preview.

The Game

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense started this game on the front foot and took the opening drive into Broncos scoring position. After an incomplete pass on a questionable pass interference non-call, New England had to settle for a field goal taking a 3-0 lead. Now it was up to Peyton Manning. Peyton came out and on the very first drive was hit so hard that he was forced to leave the game. The drama from Brady vs. Manning had disappeared after one series. Cue Brock Osweiler. With the Pats offense back on the field Brady was up to his old tricks. Driving deep in the Broncos half of the field it looked as if they would score again but the Broncos D answered the call. A huge hit forced the Pats to fumble the ball which the Broncos managed to recover and run all the way back to the Patriots 4 yard line. Brock Osweiler took little time and hit an open man in the end zone to give Denver the 7-3 lead. Huge turnover leading to a massive momentum swing. After stopping the Patriots offense, Osweiler again took to the field. A deep pass play was flagged for pass interference giving Denver the ball on the 1 yard line. CJ Anderson busted through the D and into the end zone putting Denver up 14-3 at halftime. The 3rd quarter was dominated by the Broncos. They stuffed Tom Brady multiple times as both teams went scoreless. The Broncos tacked on a field goal to make it 17-3 before the start of the 4th quarter. With the Pats going for one last push, Brady was intercepted at the 1 yard line with 40 seconds remaining. This is where things turned weird. Too deep in their own zone to kneel the ball, the Broncos ran a play but were stuffed in their own end zone, Safety! 17-5 score and the Pats got the ball back. Unfortunately, Brady was unable to muster up any offense until the last play of the game when he hit his receiver for a 42 yard touchdown pass as time expired. They hit the extra point but ended up losing the game 17-12. With that contest in the books, the Denver Broncos are our first Madden 16 Playoff Preview team to make it to Super Bowl 50. Stay tuned for the Cardinals at Panthers game coming up next.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN9qqcwOLH8
