The last of this weekend’s games showcases the Green Bay Packers at the Washington Redskins. The NFC Wild Card battle follows our preview of the Seahawks and Vikings game which came down to a hail mary bomb. The NFC East Champs come in having won 3 in a row and hope to have their home field advantage be the edge they need to overcome Aaron Rodgers and the Pack Attack. The Packers lost a Week 17 battle with the Vikings and come in having lost 2 in a row. The Packers experience faces off with the Redskins youth.
At first glance you’d expect a high scoring game but the Packers’ and Redskins’ defenses both came to play leading to a scoreless first quarter. Washington opened the scoring in the 2nd with a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. On the following drive, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers O looked to answer back but his first pass of the drive was intercepted setting the Redskins offense up with excellent starting field position (highlight). The Green Bay defense answered the call once again and held Washington to a 45 yard field goal giving them a 6-0 advantage. Aaron Rodgers then took matters into his own hands firing a deep pass to Randall Cobb who made a sensational one handed grab to give the Pack a redzone opportunity (highlight). Rodgers and Cobb hooked up a few plays later for a TD to put the Packers ahead 7-6 with 50 seconds remaining in the half (highlight). The Skins offense managed to make their way down the field and hit a 47 yard field goal as time expired in the first half giving Washington a 9-7 lead into halftime. The 3rd quarter saw much of the same as the 1st with both teams putting up 0s on the scoreboard. The Rodgers and Cobb duo combined for another touchdown drive to put the Pack ahead 14-9 with just over 3 minutes remaining in the 4th. With the Redskins O unable to move the ball, the Packers got the ball back and faced a crucial 3rd and 4 with just over a minute to go. On the play, James Starks powered through the D and busted off a 36 yard run to seal the deal (highlight). The Packers were able to kneel out the rest of the clock and held on for a 14-9 win advancing to the NFC divisional round playoff match-up next week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGcVZFIFLGY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVZNcxG–Tk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_6vVloPjHs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cEEEfsxYhE
