League of Legends NA LCS Promotion Tournament Final
This past weekend the North American LCS Promotion Tournament saw only series defined by domination. The semi-finals on Saturday saw both LCS teams, Echo Fox and NRG eSports, swept in their 5 game series by Phoenix1 and LCS newcomers Cloud9 Challenger, respectively. As a result the two teams would face off on Sunday in their own 5 game series to claim the final spot for the 2017 Spring Split.
NA LCS Promotion Final
Like their semi-final match ups, this series would result in another sweep with Echo Fox returning to the LCS, while NRG eSports would find themselves relegated. Echo Fox were able to jump out to an early lead in Game 1 that saw the jungle completely monopolized by the them on the blue side. NRG were unable to control their own jungle ultimately forcing a loss of footing in the river as they conceded every drake of the game. They were able to stay afloat for sometime in Game 1 with the consistent play of Santorin in the jungle that they saw all split. Unfortunately his Nidalee was unable to carry them in each team fight. Late in the game it was Keith as Lucian who would dominate with a quadra kill at the Baron pit that would give Echo Fox the reins for the rest of the game.
Game 2 would feature both teams opting to stay on their previous sides of the map. Keith’s ultra aggressive Lucian also made a reappearance as he bounced from an early death and became unstoppable, redeeming himself for his poor play in the semi-final match up. The struggles for NRG would continue as they lost Game 2 in a more deciding manner than the previous game. NRG’s mid laner GBM would continue his woes as he was outclassed by Froggen’s world famous Anivia play.
Echo Fox would enter Game 3 with a surge of confidence having won Game 1 through jungle pressure and claiming Game 2 with strong lane out play. The two would switch sides for what would be the final game of the match. It would appear that Echo Fox would turn out even more dominant on red side as the match finished in half an hour, making it the fastest of the series. With a ten thousand gold lead NRG could only watch as their base was reduced to ruins. Echo Fox demonstrated all around superiority as each lane would gain the upper hand on their NRG counterparts. Even Echo Fox jungler Hard, who was expected to be severely outplayed by the star jungling of Santorin, was able to hold his own against the star jungler. The bot lane duo of Keith and Big shone through the entire match as the two combined for only 2 deaths the entire series.
In the end Echo Fox held their heads high in hopes of an improved split this coming spring; meanwhile NRG hung their heads being forced into relegation with no real bright spot in their game play. Echo Fox will return in the Spring of 2017 to face the current NA LCS playoffs teams that will commence post season competition this weekend.
