FM Wonderkids: The 11 Best Big Budget Signings On FM 15

So we’ve covered the starting XI of FM15 bargains costing £5m or less, but what about when you actually have some money to spend? Who do you sign then? There is no point considering players who are virtually impossible to sign, like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Eden Hazard, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a starting XI of absolute diamonds worth signing for under £50m.

(4-2-3-1; Ter Stegen; Danilo, Zouma, Varane, Gaya; Koke, Kovacic; Vela, Correa, Sterling; Lacazette)

Name – Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Club/Cost – £30m from Barcelona

Why sign him?

Ter Stegen usually has to play second-fiddle to Claudio Bravo, which is brilliant news for you,  as he’s one of the best young keepers in the game, and is available for a decent fee, as far as goalkeeping fees for top keepers on FM goes.

Name – Danilo

Club/Cost – £23m from Porto

Why sign him?

Danilo was snapped up by Real Madrid this summer, and for good reason; because he is one of the best right-backs available on FM15. His average rating improves depending on how good of a team he lands in- the better the team, the better Danilo plays.

Name – Kurt Zouma

Club/Cost – £40-45m from Chelsea

Why sign him?

Zouma is both a baby in FM-terms, but also one of the most capable defenders you can play with right now. Zouma grows into an absolute monster, with an average rating usually always higher than 7.5, I see very little reason not to sign him, if you can afford to.

Name – Raphael Varane

Club/Cost – £42-46m from Real Madrid

Why sign him?

If you can secure a centre back partnership of Zouma & Varane, you’re laughing all the way to the quadruple. The pair both play for France together, and if you get them on the same club team, you’ll have the best centre back pairing in FM. Hands down.

Name – Jose Gaya

Club/Cost – £13m from Valencia

Why sign him?

The essence of the article is players to sign when you have money, so imagine how good Gaya has to be to make this list at a cost of just £13m. The answer is, pretty damn good.

Name – Carlos Vela

Club/Cost – £26m from Real Sociedad

Why sign him?

Vela is a goal-machine on your right-hand side, and chips in a fair few assists whilst he’s at it. Vela’s best utilised as an inside forward on the right flank.

Name – Mateo Kovacic

Club/Cost – £25-30m from Inter

Why sign him?

Kovacic has been ripped away from us FM lovers, as Real Madrid signed him up this summer. As a result, Real Madrid will arguably have the best centre midfielders on FM16, and Kovacic is a big part of that.

Name – Koke

Club/Cost – £31m from Atletico

Why sign him?

Koke is a solid choice as a deep-lying playmaker at the heart of your midfield. Both him and Kovacic do an amazing job in protecting your defence. allowing your more attacking players to flourish with fewer defensive concerns.

Name – Raheem Sterling

Club/Cost – £40-44m

Why sign him?

Sterling may take a season to fully become a beast, but when he does, you’ll be happy you forked out a similar fee to Man City to make him your player.

Centre Attacking Midfielder

Name – Angel Correa

Club/Cost – £40m

Why sign him?

Correa is one of those players you have to give first-team football to in order for him to excel. As a substitute, he doesn’t excel so much, but as a starter, you can expect an average rating of over 7.4 every season, at the very least.

Name – Alexandre Lacazette

Club/Cost – £33m from Lyon

Why sign him?

Lacazette is the accomplished finisher you need to lead your front line. He’s perfect because he has the pace, technical ability and work ethic to lead your attack by himself. He’ll also be supported by Correa, who himself is like a second striker.
