FM 15 Bargains: Best Signings Under £5m

Find the best FM 15 bargains for under £5m

Football Manager is released exactly one month from today!

Recently, we brought you our ‘Best Eleven Signings on FM15‘, but the essence of Football Manager – namely signing cheap bargains – needs to be addressed before we all shift our alliances to Football Manager 2016.
This article will cover the best FM15 bargain signings for £5m and under.

The formation of choice for this XI is a 4-2-3-1.

Itumeleng Khune

Transfer Fee: £1m
Club: Kaizer Chiefs
Age: 27
Nationality: South Africa

Khune is both a great bargain and a player capable of performing well at pretty much any club outside of your traditional ‘bigger clubs’ (for example Chelsea or Man Utd).

Transfer Fee: £2.8m
Club: Celta Vigo
Age: 21
Nationality: Spain

Jonny ticks all the boxes for a cheap quality defender – versatile, talented and ability to grow to 4-star potential.

Jesus Vallejo

Transfer Fee: £1.1m
Club: Real Zaragoza
Age: 17
Nationality: Spain

Real Madrid signed Vallejo this summer. When I heard that, I buried my FM15 disc in my garden and said a few quiet words to commiserate this bargain being ripped away from us on FM16.
Vallejo is arguably the biggest bargain on FM15, so a grieving period was only natural after processing the fact we won’t find this bargain ever again. Thanks a lot Real Madrid.

Winston Reid

Transfer Fee: £2m
Club: West Ham
Age: 27
Nationality: New Zealand

Reid’s contract expires soon on FM15, and he never usually renews it. He’s a quality centre-back for medium-sized clubs and can be signed for around £2-4m. You won’t be disappointed by his nonsense style of defending.

Nicola Murru

Transfer Fee: £3m
Club: Cagliari
Age: 19
Nationality: Italy

Murru is not only a versatile defender, he is also someone with 4-star potential, which is rare for the price you pay for him.

Pione Sisto

Transfer Fee: £5m
Club: FC Midtjylland
Age: 19
Nationality: Denmark

Sisto costs the whole £5m, but he’ll repay that in no time. If nothing else, Sisto can be a profitable cash-cow, as bigger clubs will usually want to fork out at least £20m to acquire his services.

Lucas Romero

Transfer Fee: £5m
Club: Velez
Age: 20
Nationality: Argentina

Romero is a slightly cheeky signing, in that you may have to add in a few clauses which don’t take money from your transfer budget right away, but do so later on, like 48 months of additional payments or £XXX amount after 50 league games.
If you can pull this signing off, you’ll have the best upcoming centre midfielder in the entire game.

Matias Kranevitter

Transfer Fee: £4m
Club: River Plate
Age: 21
Nationality: Argentina

So you’ve already got one Argentinian wonderkid in your midfield with Romero, what could top that? Two Argentinian wonderkids!
The combination of Kranevitter and Romero means your attacking four can worry less about defensive duties, as your two bruising centre-mids will protect the back four and have you covered.

Josh Murphy

Transfer Fee: £5m
Club: Norwich
Age: 19
Nationality: England

Like Romero, Murphy will definitely stretch your budget and he’s probably the hardest player on this list to sign, but he turns out to be of England’s best left sided midfielders within a few years.

Centre-attacking midfielder

Humam Tariq

Transfer Fee: £500k
Club: Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya
Age: 19
Nationality: Iraq

My heart briefly sunk when I heard Celtic might be interested in signing him, thereby robbing this bargain from us in FM16.
Luckily for us, those Celtic talks never came to fruition, so expect to see Tariq doing amazing things for you in FM16.

Luka Jovic

Transfer Fee: £1m
Club: Red Star
Age: 17
Nationality: Serbia

The catch with Jovic is that you can’t play him until January 2016, but he’s that good, that I recommend signing him ASAP.
Don’t worry, I wouldn’t come this far without suggesting a striker for right now – sign Thalles from Vasco. The 19-year-old Brazilian can be bought for about £1.2m and he’ll do you well until Jovic arrives.
