FIFA 18 Wonderkids: All the best Danish players to sign in Career Mode

Denmark have qualified for just their fifth World Cup ever, with a wave of talent currently sweeping the nation. With Sweden and Iceland also qualifying for Russia 2018, Scandinavia will be well represented next summer, but what names should you snap up on FIFA 18? We look at the best wonderkids to sign on Career Mode who you can build your side around for the next decade.

What is a wonderkid?

We are looking at the best Danish wonderkids on FIFA 18’s Career Mode. These players are all aged 23 and under but have the potential to hit at least 76 on the game. Many of these players are exciting and have the potential to be some of Europe’s best.

For a full list of our Danish wonderkids, visit the table near the end of this page.

Andreas Christensen (OVR 81 – POT 90)

Age: 21

Positions: CB, CDM

Club: Chelsea

Work rate: Low/Medium

Best attributes: 88 standing tackle, 84 sliding tackle, 83 marking

Cost: £43.3 million (release clause)

Wage: £75,000 a week

Most Premier League fans wouldn’t even have heard of Chelsea centre back Andreas Christensen at the start of the season, but the Danish international has already ousted David Luiz (OVR 85) from Antonio Conte’s starting lineup. A loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach was the catalyst for the 21-year-old, who has taken every opportunity he's been given this season, becoming the first Chelsea academy graduate to play three full league games since John Terry.

Christensen, who can also operate at defensive midfield has a reliable 81 overall rating on FIFA 18, with an outstanding potential of 90 that matches the overall of the best centre back on the game, Sergio Ramos. That will cost you £43.3 million with wages of £75,000 a week.

Kasper Dolberg (OVR 77 – POT 87)

Age: 19

Positions: ST, CAM

Club: Ajax

Work rate: Medium/Low

Best attributes: 87 shot power, 80 composure, 79 sprint speed

Cost: £19.7 million (release clause)

Wage: £9,000 a week

If you want a talented striker, Kasper Dolberg is your man. At the age of just 19, the Danish forward has already bagged 37 goals for Dutch giants Ajax, and his six in the Europa League last season fired his club all the way to the final. The teenager is arguably his country’s best striker already, so expect a big future from him.

Dolberg will set you back £19.7 million with wages of £9,000 a week. That cost will get you his 87 shot power, 80 composure and 79 sprint speed, which help make up his 77 overall. His 87 potential is something you cannot afford to miss out on.

Pione Sisto (OVR 76 – POT 85)

Age: 22

Positions: LW, LM, RW

Club: Celta Vigo

Work rate: High/Medium

Best attributes: 85 sprint speed, 84 balance, 84 acceleration

Cost: £24.3 million (release clause)

Wage: £22,000 a week

A name you may not recognise is Celta Vigo’s Pione Sisto. The left or right winger made the switch to Spain from Danish club Midtjylland in 2016, going on to make almost 50 appearances last season. With nine assists already in the current campaign, the 22-year-old has clearly found his feet, so keep an eye on his development over the coming seasons.

85 sprint speed, 84 balance, and 84 acceleration gives Sisto a 76 overall rating, with the potential to hit 85. With a release clause at £24.3 million and wages of £22,000 a week, the Dane can be a shrewd signing.

Lucas Andersen (OVR 77 – POT 84)

Age: 22

Positions: CAM, LM, RM

Club: Grasshopper

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best attributes: 90 agility, 84 dribbling, 84 sprint speed

Cost: £18.2 million (release clause)

Wage: £18,000 a week

After failing to assert himself at Dutch club Ajax, a move to Swiss side Grasshopper has got Lucas Andersen’s career back on track. The attacking or wide midfielder has four goals and four assists already this season, and if he maintains this form a move to one of Europe’s big leagues will surely follow.

Andersen's 77 overall rating and 84 potential will cost you £18.2 million and wages of £18,000 a week. His best attributes include 90 agility, 84 dribbling and 84 sprint speed.

Yussuf Poulsen (OVR 76 – POT 83)

Age: 23

Positions: ST

Club: RB Leipzig

Work rate: High/High

Best attributes: 86 sprint speed, 85 acceleration, 85 stamina

Cost: £18.4 million (release clause)

Wage: £51,000 a week

Part of the RB Leipzig revolution, six foot four inch striker Yussuf Poulsen can bring pace and power to your side. He may not bring the goals, scoring just five league goals last season, but he'll create opportunities for his teammates.

86 sprint speed, 85 acceleration and 85 stamina are more than dangerous stats, and they help make up a 76 overall rating. His 83 potential will set you back £18.4 million with wages of £51,000 a week.

Viktor Fischer (OVR 75 – POT 82)

Age: 23

Positions: LM, LW, ST, CAM

Club: Mainz

Work rate: High/Low

Best attributes: 80 short passing, 77 sprint speed, 77 agility

Cost: £15.9 million (release clause)

Wage: £20,000 a week

Middlesbrough fans will remember Viktor Fischer from an unsuccessful spell on Teesside, and after just one season in which the club were relegated from the Premier League, Fischer headed to German club Mainz. The 23-year-old left midfielder, winger, striker or attacking midfielder is getting regular minutes in Germany, and can concentrate on showing the form he displayed when coming through the ranks at Ajax.

£15.9 million will get you the tricky Fischer who offers 80 short passing, 77 sprint speed and 77 agility on FIFA 18. Those attributes give him an overall rating of 75, which can rise to a potential of 82. His wages are currently £20,000 a week.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (OVR 75 – POT 81)

Age: 21

Positions: CM, CDM

Club: Southampton

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best attributes: 78 aggression, 77 stamina, 77 strength

Cost: £16.6 million (release clause)

Wage: £45,000 a week

After bursting onto the scene at Bayern Munich way back in 2013, it’s been a tricky few years for central or defensive midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 21-year-old didn’t hit the ground running at Premier League club Southampton last season, and this year he's played more games for the U23 side than the first team.

A transfer switch looks to be on the cards, and you can pick up the gritty midfielder for £16.6 million on FIFA 18 and £45,000 a week wages. That price will get you his 75 overall with an 81 potential.

Philip Billing (OVR 67 – POT 81)

Age: 21

Positions: CDM, CM

Club: Huddersfield

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best attributes: 74 shot power, 74 strength, 72 long shots

Cost: £3.5 million (release clause)

Wage: £16,000 a week

Defensive or central midfielder Philip Billing played a large part in Huddersfield’s Championship campaign that saw them promoted to the Premier League, but the 21-year-old has been limited to just five starts in the top flight this season. As he continues to develop, expect him to play more of a part in the second half of the season.

74 shot power, 74 strength and 72 long shots add to Billing’s 67 overall, which can rise rapidly to 81. You will need just £3.5 million to sign him, with wages of £16,000 a week.

Nikolas Nartey (OVR 63 – POT 81)

Age: 17

Positions: CM

Club: Koln

Work rate: Medium/Medium

Best attributes: 78 balance, 74 agility, 74 jumping

Cost: £1.5 million (release clause)

Wage: £3,000 a week

Another man with a lot of growth is Koln central midfielder Nikolas Nartey. The Danish U18 international may have featured just once in a dismal campaign so far for the German club, but he may come out the other side better for it. With the side playing so poorly, this should open the door for more opportunities.

78 balance, 74 agility and 74 jumping add to Nartey’s timid 63 rating, but this will grow dramatically to 81. For that growth, you will need just £1.5 million with £3,000 a week wages; something worth considering.

Riza Durmisi (OVR 73 – POT 80)

Age: 23

Positions: LB, LWB

Club: Real Betis

Work rate: High/Medium

Best attributes: 91 balance, 90 stamina, 89 aggression

Cost: £9.6 million (release clause)

Wage: £15,000 a week

If you're looking for a promising wing back, Riza Durmisi could be your man. The 23-year-old left back or wing back has been growing in status since joining Real Betis from Brondby back in 2016, and it may not be long before he makes a big money switch elsewhere.

91 balance, 90 stamina and 89 aggression are fantastic statistics for the youngster who has an overall rating of 73. This can grow to a useful 80 rating, which can be yours for £9.6 million and wages of £15,000 a week.
