With the Premier League kicking off last week, they have since been joined by Spain’s La Liga, the German Bundesliga and Italy’s Serie A this past weekend. Even though it is still very early in the season, players look like they are already in top form.
Manchester United maintained their perfect start to the season, with a second successive 4-0 victory, this time against Swansea. Girona were 2-0 up against Atletico Madrid, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with the Spanish giants. Both Milan clubs recorded 3-0 victories, as did Juventus, in their Serie A openers, with Borussia Dortmund matching the scoreline in their opening Bundesliga fixture against Wolfsburg.
RealSport looks at which 11 players could be available as an in form card as of Wednesday.
1 Alfred Gomis (OVR 72 > 74)
After a 49-year absence, Italian side SPAL are back in the top flight of Italian football, following their promotion from Serie B. It's going to be a tough first season for the newcomers, but goalkeeper Alfred Gomis showed great spirit and fight they will need to have if they want to stay in the division. The on-loan Torino man made 13 saves as Lazio let fly 23 shots, but kept the scores at 0-0 to give his side a solid start to life in the Italian top flight. Expect his 72 card to reach a maximum silver rating of 74 this week. He currently costs 5,500 coins on Xbox One and 1,300 on PlayStation 4.
2 Michael Keane (OVR 75 > 85)
Everton centre back Michael Keane will have to fill in at right back in our Team of the Week, with the summer signing netting in Everton’s Europa League play-off against Hajduk Split. The £25 million man looks to be a regular in Ronald Koeman’s side, and with their signal of intent in the transfer market, a Champions League spot is not out of reach. IF Everton go deep into competitions this season, expect the 24-year-old Keane to lock down a place in Gareth Southgate’s England side. With three TOTW appearances last season for Burnley, another for Everton would see Keane’s rating rise to at least 85. His Burnley card will cost you just over 2,100 coins on both consoles.
3 Marc Bartra (OVR 81 > 84)
Spanish centre back Marc Bartra has gone to new heights since swapping Barcelona for Borussia Dortmund, and his superb goal against Wolfsburg proves just that. The ball-playing defender showed all his quality with a superb curling effort from a tight angle in Dortmund’s 3-0 victory in their first Bundesliga fixture of the season. If Dortmund keep their top players fit this season, they can push Bayern Munich all the way to the title. If Bartra were to make the TOTW, he could be looking at an 84 in form card.
4 Harry Maguire (OVR 72 > 74)
Following Hull City’s relegation last season, there was always going to be a fight for star centre back Harry Maguire, and Leicester City got their man for £15 million. That fee is already starting to pay off with the big defender notching his first goal for the club in the 2-0 victory over Premier League newcomers Brighton. With a strong start to the campaign and The Foxes can look up as opposed to down, after a poor first half of the season last year. A first TOTW appearance would take Maguire 72-rated card to a silver high of 74. His current card is a bargain at just 900 coins on both consoles.
5 Marcos Alonso (OVR 79 > 87)
Chelsea have been hunting for a new left wing-back this summer, but after Marcos Alonso’s star performance at Wembley, they needn’t worry. The Spaniard notched a brace at Tottenham's first ‘home’ Premier League match at Wembley, securing a 2-1 win for The Blues, moving on from their shock 3-2 loss at home to Burnley in their PL opener. Alonso’s 79 rated card will rise to at least 86 after two previous TOTW appearances last season. A first Spain cap may be around the corner. The Chelsea man will set you back between 2,000 and 2,500 coins on both consoles.
6 Bryan Dabo (OVR 75 > 78)
Saint Etienne central midfielder Bryan Dabo ensured his side’s perfect start to the season with two goals against bottom of the table Amiens. The Frenchman bagged his first goal from the penalty spot before hammering home a rebound to secure a 3-0 victory. ASSE are only one of three clubs with a 100% start to the season, the other two being the usual title contenders, PSG and Monaco. Dabo’s brace should take him to an FUT rating of at least 78, and currently, he only cost 600 coins on both consoles.
7 Riccardo Montolivo (OVR 78 > 81)
Even at the age of 32, Riccardo Montolivo is still going on strong. He may have handed the captaincy over to new man Leonardo Bonucci, but his brace in AC Milan’s Europa League play-off shows there is plenty left in the tank. The Rossoneri smashed Macedonian minnows Shkendija Tetovo 6-0, and they will now use the second leg to experiment with their system and personnel. Defensive midfielder Montolivo could land an 80+ rated card this week. The Italian veteran will set you back around 1,000 coins on both consoles.
8 Conor Hourihane (OVR 69 > 74)
Only one hat-trick hero this week, and Conor Hourihane’s efforts ensured a first league win of the season for Aston Villa. The 4-2 win over Norwich City only lifts Villa to 16th, chalking up four points from their opening four fixtures. With their first win behind them and a goal-scorer midfielder in form, expect Steve Bruce’s side to climb the table. Expect central midfielder Hourihane to take a big jump from 6 to 74 on FUT this week. His big performance has already seen his price jump, costing 4,000 coins on PS 4 and 3,000 on XB1.
9 Malcom (OVR 76 > 79)
Bordeaux wide man Malcom also grabbed a double against Lyon, but his 91st-minute strike earned a draw for his side. Bordeaux have a solid platform after their opening three fixtures, with one win and two draws, lying sixth in the Ligue 1 table. Malcom’s good form of last season saw his card get upgraded from 74 to 76, and the Brazilian will be eyeing an upgrade of 78 or higher this week. He is an absolute steal on FUT, with a price of around 700 coins on either console.
10 Christian Stuani (OVR 72 > 74)
t didn’t click in the Premier League last season for Christan Stuani, but his summer move from Middlesbrough to Girona has already been a success. The Uruguayan grabbed a double against Atletico Madrid, but despite Girona being two-up after 25 minutes and then seeing Antoine Griezmann sent off with just over 20 minutes to go, they couldn’t hold on to victory. There's plenty to take from their La Liga opener, and with easier fixtures to come, they can be pleased with their start to the campaign. Stuani’s position could change from right midfielder to striker this week, and his rating boosted from 72 to 74. Another bargain, Stuani can be secured for just 600 coins on either console.
11 Mathew Leckie (OVR 72 > 74)
Hertha Berlin winger Mathew Leckie joined this week’s double club with two goals of his own against Stuttgart. The Australian was making his debut for Hertha, and immediately had the fans on the side following his summer move from Ingolstadt. The 26-year-old bagged 10 goals last season, and he has given himself the best possible start to top that this campaign. His 72 rating should hit a maxed out silver rating of 74 on Ultimate Team. Leckie’s Ingolstadt card will set you back 2,900 coins on PS4 and 2,400 on XB1.
