PES 2020: Huge Matchday event announced with partners Barcelona despite El Clasico being postponed

A seismic Matchday event is live this week with PES’ partner club Barcelona, which allows players to experience the excitement of a major football derby.

Having renewed their partnership with Konami over the summer (which saw Lionel Messi featuring on the cover of eFootball PES 2020), Barcelona are now viewed as a loyal and trusted partner, and the partnership will likely take the world of football and esports to new heights over the next four years.

There will be a massive matchday event available from 21st October (ahead of Barcelona’s scheduled clash with Real Madrid) so this piece has been devised to help you make the most of it.

MAGICIAN: Tear it up with cover star Lionel Messi against Los Blancos

The brand new feature Matchday Mode has been developed to bridge the gap between virtual space and reality. It condenses the essence of football culture into a competitive format that lifts you out of your seat and places you on the pitch alongside your icons.

Players will get the opportunity to earn points for their team in every game they play, with each pass, tackle and shot contributing to your team’s total.

Once a player has chosen their team, they will face off against opponents around the world in group matches to earn points.

The side with the most points at the end of the group stages will move on to the Grand Final with an advantage.

Win or lose, all Matchday participants will receive rewards for their efforts.

PES 2020 x FC Barcelona

PES’ partnership with Barcelona is surpassing the limits of the virtual space this week, coming to life with competition events that will be linked with ‘The Big Match Rivalry’ between Barcelona and Madrid Chamartin B (Real Madrid's name on PES 2020).

Despite political protests postponing one of the biggest games of the year, El Clasico, representatives of eFootball PES 2020 have ensured that the Matchday clash will go ahead.

You will still be able to sign Club Legends (available in game now) and add featured Barcelona players to your squad.
