NBA Live 19: Boston Celtics Player Ratings and Roster

The Celtics will head into the 2018/19 season as the favorites to make it out of the Eastern Conference. We’ve listed all the details of the Celtics' star-studded starting lineup and the rest of their roster, plus their playbooks on both offense and defense.

Kyrie Irving, PG, 93

Age: 26

Position: PG

Height: 6’3’’

Playstyle: Backcourt Shooter

Best stats: 99 Contested Shots, 99 Driving Layup, 98 Dribbling

Irving had an injury-riddled first year in Boston, but when he was on the floor, he was every bit the star of the competition that we’ve come to know and love. His averages of 24.8 points and 5.1 assists were marginally lower than his final year in Cleveland, but he was typically efficient from the floor, going at 49.1% from the field and 40.8% from downtown, and slid seamlessly into Brad Stevens' movement-oriented offense.

Jaylen Brown, SG, 84

Age: 21

Position: SF

Height: 6’7’’

Playstyle: Backcourt Defender

Best stats: 94 Stamina, 91 Speed, 90 Driving Layup

Brown enjoyed an impressive second season in the NBA, making a quantum leap in terms of both his minutes and his output. Benefitting significantly from the injury to teammate Gordon Hayward, Brown played 30.7 minutes a game, nearly double that of what he enjoyed in his rookie season. In those minutes he accumulated 14.9 points, 4.9 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 39.5% from beyond the arc.

Gordon Hayward, SF, 86

Age: 28

Position: SF

Height: 6’8’’

Playstyle: Wing Shooter

Best stats: 95 Stamina, 90 Driving Layup, 89 Shot off Dribble, 89 Contested Shots

Hayward only managed five minutes of playing time in his first season for the Celtics before he gruesomely broke his leg. Prior to that, he was an all-star caliber player for the Utah Jazz, putting up 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game in 2016/17 while also being a valuable presence on defense. The success of his return this season will have a major impact on Boston's ability to compete against the best sides.

Jayson Tatum, PF, 85

Age: 19

Position: SF

Height: 6’8’’

Playstyle: Stretch Big

Best stats: 92 Stamina, 91 Dunk, 89 Vertical

Tatum’s rookie year was one to remember. After Hayward went down on opening night, a spot in the starting five opened up, and Tatum grabbed it with both hands. The number three pick in the 2017 draft showed why Celtics GM Danny Ainge traded down to get him, demonstrating a well-rounded game at both ends of the floor to average 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting an elite 43.4% from beyond the arc.

Al Horford, C, 87

Age: 32

Position: C

Height: 6’10’’

Playstyle: Stretch Big

Best stats: 93 Injury, 93 Post Moves, 92 Stamina

In another excellent season for the veteran, Horford once again showed he doesn't need high stats to be a hugely effective player. He made the All-Star team in a season in which he would average 11.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 blocks per game, numbers which sell short the impact he is able to have on a game largely through his incredibly high basketball IQ.
