Fortnite: Is the B.R.U.T.E suit driving players away from the game?

As Season X reaches its two week mark, we look into the current trend of removing the mech.

Season X hit our screens on August 1st, bringing back an all new 100 tier battle pass, the return of Dusty Depot, brand new missions, limited time modes and much more.

Although the much-hyped Season X was the biggest update Epic had provided for the game since the release of the Battle Royale mode, with lots of new features… one in particular has not been able to win the hearts of the millions of Fortnite players out there.

The B.R.U.T.E. or referred to more commonly as the ‘Mech’.

We here at RealSport are taking a dive into why the Mech does not belong in the game. Is this the Infinity Blade take two?

What is the Mech?

For the more casual Fortnite gamers who are unaware of what the Mech is, Epic explains that the vehicle is best controlled by two players, as one controls its movement and another controls its firepower.

Sounds fair right? Well, not only is it controllable as a pair and almost indestructible with it having 1000 health, it can be controlled by a solo player by shifting between controlling where it navigates and using its 10 missiles that comes with it.

This clip portrays just how powerful the B.R.U.T.E. really is, with next to nothing that can be done to counteract the sheer force of the Mech; not everyone wants to carry Boogie Bombs all game long, waiting for the inevitable to happen when you stumble across the Mech.

Popular Fortnite streamers such as CourageJD, Ninja, and DrLupo have all expressed their feelings towards the metal suits found in Fortnite.

On the decline

Epic has since realised that the B.R.U.T.E. is unbalanced and not in tune with the rest of the game, as highlighted in an update that took place on August 11th conveying the decrease in spawn rates for the two-person vehicle in both Arena and Tournament playlists.

The team here at RealSport have a strong understanding why the Mech should be either taken out the game, or drastically nerfed for it to continue being fun for different types of players, from casual gamers to pros.
