As we near the official release date we're learning more about the NBA 2K23 gameplay courtesy of Gameplay Director Mike Wang.
There are brand new badges and changes that have been made to previous badges as well which was revealed by Wang.
Let's take a look at what's going on in NBA 2K23 this year.
Mike Wang Tweets about NBA 2K23 gameplay
In an effort to keep everyone up to speed on the new NBA 2K23 gameplay, Mike Wang revealed a few changes that we can expect this year.
A series of tweets went out surrounding defensive badges and one of the most important new additions Adrenaline boosts.
An interesting note about the NBA 2K23 gameplay that Mike Wang revealed is that Adrenaline boosts will be restored on shot clock resets.
What actually works well in terms of new gameplay is that steals and block attempts will cost a boost as well. This should eliminate steal spamming which was a problem in NBA 2K22.

Badge adjustments in NBA 2K23
With so many new features coming to the NBA 2K23 gameplay, one thing that will look notably different is the Badges.
Wang noted that:
"Most, if not all, of the returning badges have been re-tuned or reworked in some way. If something was OP in 22, don't assume it will be again in #NBA2K23 also. Some of the weaker badges were buffed also."
There were also Badges that were widely popular last year but we won't be seeing them in any NBA 2K23 gameplay this year.
We took a look at all of the Badges this year as well, so if you'd like to learn more about that, follow this link.
New Badge Tier System
Players that are excited to jump into MyCAREER on next gen systems will learn that there is a new system for Badges.
This new feature of the NBA 2K23 gameplay will add depth via a tiered system that the Badges will operate under. As the tier increases so will the cost of the Badge and the effectiveness.
There are 16 badges per attribute category: eight in Tier 1, four in Tier 2, and four in Tier 3. We have heard that badges will transfer between builds too.
