FanDuel & DraftKings NBA Daily Picks: Fantasy lineup & advice 11/17/17

PG - Dennis Smith Jr., Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves

Dennis Smith Jr. has been killing it in November. The Dallas rookie is averaging just a hair under 20 points, with 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 18.4 shots per game for the league-worst Mavs. He set a new career-high last time out with 27 points and 5 3-pointers against the San Antonio Spurs. He needed 23 shots to do it and also committed 6 turnovers, but those are still solid numbers relative to his price. His matchup tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have given up the third-most fantasy points to opposing point guards, should raise his upside just enough to produce sufficient value.

SG - Austin Rivers/Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Given how awful the Cavs’ defense has been this season, particularly against shooting guards, chances are one of Rivers or Williams will go off for a huge game tonight. While Rivers struggled last time out against Philly, he’s still averaging a solid 16.6 points and 3.2 3-pointers over his last five games. Meanwhile, Lou Will has been on fire, with two 30-plus-point, 7-rebound games in two of his last three. That includes an incredible 31-7-6 line with 5 3s and 5 steals against the Sixers. He obviously won’t come near those outstanding all-around numbers again, but another 30-point night is well within the realm of possibility.

SF - Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles Lakers vs Phoenix Suns

Brandon Ingram struggled mightily in his last game against the Suns, but he bounced back in a big way with a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds against the Sixers. That just topped his previous career best, which he set earlier in the year against the Suns. Ingram has been very solid this month, averaging 15 points and 6.4 rebounds. The fact that he’ll be up against a not-so-good Suns defense which is giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to small forwards on the second night of a back-to-back should increase his chances of another strong showing.

PF - Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz @ Brooklyn Nets

Derrick Favors has done a serviceable job filling in for the injured Rudy Gobert. He’s hit double-digit rebounding in all three of his games at center, and has also chipped in with blocks and steals. He’s only scored in double-digits once in those three games, but that was his 24-point explosion against tonight’s opponents, the Brooklyn Nets. As per usual, the Nets don’t offer much resistance in the way of slowing down opposing big men, so Favors at least has a chance to put together a solid double-double, which would still be excellent value given his price.

C - Greg Monroe, Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers

Greg Monroe made quite a debut for the Suns as he had 20 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes in Phoenix’s humiliating defeat to the Houston Rockets. Monroe and the Suns will be on the second night of a back-to-back tonight against the Lakers, but his price is still low enough and the Lakers’ interior defense is shaky enough that he remains an attractive option. He should continue to get the start with Tyson Chandler out, and should also get a fair share of touches for a Suns offense that is in desperate need of more firepower. Another strong double-double is well within reach, especially if the Suns somehow manage to make it close.
