Will MLB The Show 22 have online franchise?

MLB The Show 22 will arrive in just over a week, and players have kept a close watch as Franchise Mode upgrades start to be revealed.

While not every feature may make it into this year's game, the one some fans are clamoring for is a true online franchise in MLB The Show 22.

Will MLB The Show 22 have online franchise?

MLB The Show 22 is almost here, and that means with each week we learn more about the new features headed to this year's installment.

While March to October is getting upgrades and Online Co-Op also gets to join the list of what's new in MLB The Show 22, one major franchise feature remains missing.

Unfortunately, MLB The Show 22 will not have online franchise, and the possibility of that feature being added down the line is still in question.

ACQUISITIONS: Trades and other aspects of Franchise have been improved

Players will be able to look forward to a few positives in Franchise this year, most notably with trade logic and contracts.

However, those alone may not be enough for Franchise fans. You can find more details here on all the new Franchise Mode and March to October features coming to MLB The Show 22.

Will online franchise ever come to MLB The Show?

With another year going by without the addition of online franchise, there's no doubt some fans are likely frustrated and wondering whether the feature could ever be possible.

Sony San Diego Studios Creative Director Nick Livingston recently spoke about the roadmap they have for Franchise Mode and March to October, and it's not entirely off the table.

As Livingston explained, there are several Franchise Mode features they'd like to add, but more focus went towards March to October this year because the nature of that mode's code makes upgrading it a faster process.

This is likely down to Franchise reportedly being built on "legacy code," and there are signs that March to October is actually forming the foundation to replace the existing Franchise Mode framework.

That's not to say that Franchise Mode will go away, something that Livingston made sure to stress in his most recent interview as they have a dedicated team working on both Franchise and MTO each year.

However, we may not see the fruits of that upgraded Franchise foundation bringing online franchise to the table for a few more years.
