MLB The Show 22 once again revitalizes Road to the Show for a new chapter, and this year players once again have several different positions to pick from.

When creating your Ballplayer, you'll initially make a decision about structuring them as a 2-Way Player, Pitcher, or Position Player.

Of those three, Pitcher is least likely to have an opportunity to change position, and you may find yourself nestled into the Closer, Relief, or Starting Pitcher choice you make early.

However, 2-Way Player especially, as well as Position Player, will likely see opportunities to changes things up at a later time.

The catch is that you can't directly trigger the opportunity to change positions, you'll instead have to wait until management approaches to check on how things are going.

If you're frustrated with your current play style and want to jump ahead to that moment, you can try simulating further into the season in hopes that the opportunity arises, but it's not guaranteed.

How to stop being a 2-Way Player in RTTS

It can be very enticing as you dive into RTTS to try and go 2-Way Player, because of course who wouldn't want to be Shohei Ohtani?

You'll notice this fact pop up in early podcasts as they emphasize how other clubs are always looking for the next Shohei Ohtani, but in time it may not feel like the right fit.

If you're frustrated with your time as a 2-Way Player and want to instead focus on just pitching or hitting and position play, you can do that once approached by your manager.

A brief conversation will begin, and in order to change things you'll want to select the answers that match up with how you'd prefer to switch it up.

How to change field position and duties in RTTS

If you've decided that you need something different in Road to the Show, whether it's as a 2-Way Player or as a position player, the same can be discussed once approached by your manager.

Once you broach the possibility of changing up your balance of duties, you'll get further questions specific to either your pitching duties or field position.

For pitching, you can make adjustments like requesting different scenarios or swapping to a reliever role from closer.

As for positions, the good news is you'll be able to tell your manager exactly which position you'd prefer to move to in Road to the Show.

These opportunities don't only show up once, so don't worry that they've passed you by already, but they will likely dwindle the further you get into your Road to the show save.
