Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Lineup advice for July 12, 2018

The usual travel days can be something of a black hole for DFS play, but with 10 games on the slate today and a full all day contest on the books at DraftKings, this travel day still holds plenty of profitable opportunities for DFS players. Who should be in your lineup today?

Luis Severino @ Cleveland Indians ($10,800)

This is a low price for someone of Severino's quality. A 2.12 ERA, 14-2 record, 0.97 WHIP, and 10.4 K/9 are never this cheap, but that is because his opponents today are rather good as well.  The Indians are fourth in the Majors in runs scored and should normally be a lineup that you avoid, but today it is hard to say no. With Max Scherzer leading the way at $13,300 and James Paxton at $12,500 it is tough to not take a brilliant arm like Severino at this price and damn the risks.

Nick Pivetta @ Baltimore Orioles ($8,100)

Pivetta started the season pretty well for the Phillies, but in the last month he has added nearly a run to his ERA, which now sits at 4.62. His last two starts have been rough, but he has two 30+ point starts in his last nine, and that is a nice upside. Plus he is going against one of the worst offenses in baseball today, which is always good to see.

Jameson Taillon Vs. Milwaukee Brewers ($5,700)

This is a super-low price for Taillon, who is coming into today after a 6.2-inning, six K, 18-point performance against the Phillies. Sure, the start before that was a disappointing 6.5 points in San Diego, but Taillon is averaging 15 points per start this year even has a 30+ point game under his belt. At this price he is a must-start.

Charlie Blackmon Vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($5,400)

Yesterday it was Nolan Arenado who was the affordable Rockies star, today it is Charlie Blackmon. He may have a lefty on the mound today, but that shouldn't scare DFS players. Blackmon is hitting .300 against southpaws this season, and while the power dips a little he is still at home and hitting #2 in a strong lineup. This is a nice day to start the monster outfielder.

Mark Reynolds @ New York Mets ($4,400)

The Nationals slugger is connecting with the ball right now. He is hitting .571 in his last 10 games, with three homers, 13 RBI, two doubles, and 12 hits in that time span. All of that is good for an 11.3 points per game average. Not too bad for this price. He is a little all-or-nothing, but that can pay off huge for owners.

Carlos Gonzalez Vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($3,900)

Another affordable Rockies star. Gonzalez was left out of the lineup last time the Rockies faced a lefty, but he played the two times before that and even hit a homer off one of them. If he starts tonight then he should be in your lineup for this price, especially with three homers in his last three games.
