What Is Special Attack in Pokemon Unite?

Pokemon has gone through some strange changes over the past few decades. From explorations of RTS to picross games and now, a brand new MOBA, there's so much to do and so many avenues left for it to explore.

Translating the game to a MOBA has left a few growing pains and some questions to answer but, for the most part, it has done so competently in a way that will bring old fans to the genre. This being said, the special attack system is a little unintuitive so we're here to explain it. This is what you should know.

How Do Special Attacks Work in Pokemon Unite

Essentially, like the base Pokemon game, all Pokemon have different focuses and stats. You can leverage this to effectively plan out your combat and take on your enemies.

Unfortunately, there's a little uncertainness to how this works right now as some pokemon have extra attacks or combo attacks that leverage their other stat. The game is all about exploring what works for you. You just have to get in there for yourself and test out all the Pokemon available.

Whilst it is mostly about planning out what works well for you in each moment, we do know which Pokemon favour each stat. There they all are.

What Stat Does Each Pokemon Use?

The general attack stat favours physical moves and tends to hit at the defence of other Pokemon. These are all the Pokemon that use the attack stat primarily:

  • Charizard
  • Cinderace
  • Crustle
  • Garchomp
  • Greninja
  • Lucario
  • Machamp
  • Snorlax
  • Talonflame
  • Zeraora

The special attack favours the psychic and non-physical attacks. This will hit at the special defence of other Pokemon. Use your moves wisely. Pokemon that use the special attack stat primarily:
