Respawn Entertainment given the go-ahead for Titanfall 3

Titanfall, despite being popular, was a very niche game that never saw the success of its spin-off Apex Legends.

After the release of Apex Legends, many fans have assumed that Titanfall 3 won't be happening, but that doesn't look to be the case.

Titanfall 3 In Development?

In an interview with IGN, EA's chief studios' officer Laura Miele explained how EA has now given Respawn Entertainment the creative freedom to develop whatever games they want.

“Apex takes place in the Titanfall world, and the Respawn team is incredibly proud of that legacy and brand; that team will determine what the future holds for Apex and Titanfall. I don’t believe in directing or telling game teams what to create; it has to come from the player community and the inspiration and motivation of developers.”

This is great news to hear as EA have often meddled in the development of games, and not in a good way.

FREE REIN: Repsawn Entertainment have free rein over the games they develop.

EA forced the microtransactions and loot boxes into Star Wars Battlefront 2, which caused a huge backlash from the community and led to the game flopping despite being a really great game.

Right now, Respawn Entertainment is currently developing the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as maintaining regular updates for Apex Legends.

So it is unlikely that they are also working on Titanfall 3, although not impossible.

But this news means that we may see Titanfall 3 sooner rather than later, especially given the success of Apex Legends, it shows that the gaming world isn't done with that universe just yet.

What Is Apex Legends?

Apex Legends is a battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Titanfall which it shares its universe with.

SMASH HIT: Apex Legends became a smash hit and shares the same universe as Titanfall.

Players drop into the map either as a solo player or as part of a team and fight until they are the last one standing.

The game is currently in its eighth season and is currently available on PC via Origin and Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and a Nintendo Switch is coming in March 2021.
