Who voices Jack Sparrow in the new Sea of Thieves update?

Sea of Thieves Season 3 is introducing a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed expansion to the game and, to be honest, it's about time!

A Pirate's Life is introducing locations and music from the film series and Disneyland's attraction to make for one of the best Pirates of the Caribbean games ever and we can't wait to get stuck into it!

Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones, and Gibbs have all been confirmed as characters due to appear in the DLC. The question is... Who is Jack Sparrow in Sea of Thieves and is his voice actor any good?

Jack Sparrow's Voice Actor

As you might imagine, Johnny Depp hasn't reprised his role as Jack Sparrow for the Sea of Thieves expansion. He "parted ways" with Disney a little while ago now and it makes sense that he's not come back.

However, this shouldn't put you off in the slightest. Jared Butler, the bloke who they DO have to voice Jack Sparrow is a voice actor who has taken the role and made it his own in several video games already! He's an expert Jack Sparrow at this point.

Butler has voiced Jack Sparrow in the At World's End video game in 2007, throughout Disney Infinity, and Kingdom Hearts 3. James Arnold Taylor tried to replicate the success of Butler in Kingdom Hearts 2, but it just wasn't to be.

Rare might not have been able to get their hands on Depp, but Butler's voice acting is being combined with the perfect likeness and a specially animated character to create one of the best virtual Jack Sparrows we've ever seen.

The Sea of Thieves A Pirate's Life expansion is due to release on June 22nd and will act as one part of a multi-stage saga that brings the world of Pirates of the Caribbean to Rare's swashbuckling adventure.
