Rainbow Six Siege is one of the last games to not adopt crossplay between PS4, Xbox One, and PC players - but will players see a change to this on next-generation consoles?

Developer Confirmation for Cross-play

In March 2020, the developer confirmed that those on PS5 will be able to access matchmaking with PS4 players.

However, this functionality only expands to the particular family of consoles; PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players will continue not seeing one another in matchmaking lobbies.

Speculation of full cross-play availability

As more games are branching out to allow full cross-play availability, there is still hope for this to eventually change with regards to Rainbow Six Siege.

Players remaining in the same console family will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of Siege for free.

That means you can go from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Series S or X, and your game will come with you.

That also means that you'll keep all of your unlocked Operators!
