Double Fine's Psychonauts sequel is finally here and we can't wait to jump in

Double Fine's Psychonauts is finally getting a sequel and you'll be pleased to know you can actually play it right now! Psychonauts 2 is out now and available via Xbox Game Pass. Here's everything you need to know headed into this mind-bending experience.

Psychonauts 2 is out right now and we have the latest on what it's all about and a little Launch Trailer that you might have seen during Xbox's Gamescom 2021 Stream earlier...

Release Date

Psychonauts releases on August 25th, in just two days from the time of writing. This should give you just enough time to get it loaded up in advance.

Announcement

Psychonauts 2 was announced over 5 years ago with a small 1-minute trailer on the Double Fine Youtube channel.

It shows a government operative scared of the effects of a child's dream, only for the cast to come onto screen, followed by the flashing of "Psychonauts 2".

Platforms

Double Fine were purchased by Microsoft a few years ago, which led many to believe Psychonauts 2 would be an exclusive but they came out with a tweet, dispelling this.

It is coming to PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and Xbox at the same time. However, we won't be receiving a Switch port yet. Maybe, in the future, we could see its arrival.

Download Size

As of right now, Psychonauts comes in at 28.5 GB on Xbox Series X. On other platforms, it could be a little smaller or bigger but should remain close to that size.

A day one update may be on the way so this could change a little over the coming days.

Xbox Game Pass

Luckily for those playing on Xbox, you can play the game on day one via Xbox Game Pass. It is unsure how long it will stay for but, as it's an Xbox property, it could stay on the service for good.

If you aren't a fan of Xbox Game Pass, you can opt to purchase it right now from the store.

Preorder bonuses and Preload

As of right now, you can preorder and preload the game, ready for launch. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any bonuses for preordering.
