Pokemon has gone through some interesting changes over the last few decades, having players catch Pokemon, take pictures of them and even be them. Needless to say, fans are intrigued by the strange combination that is Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Combining elements of tonnes of different games and sending players into the past, there's a lot to look forward to. Here's what you should know about it right now.

Release Date

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is scheduled for release on January 28th, 2022, just a few months from now.

This leaves players just a few months with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl before their next Pokemon adventure.

What is it?

Taking players to the Hisui region decades before the events of previous Pokemon games, you are tasked with completing the region's first Pokedex. This means using old gear and discovering some brand new Pokemon.

Among these are new Hisuian versions of old Pokemon as well as some brand new sights. Playing around with the idea of a semi open world, you are tasked with travelling across regions and can spot Pokemon in real time.

You no longer have to tredge through grass to spot them, you now use it to hide until you are ready to catch them all. These new systems come with its own unique sense of difficulty.

Leak - The most difficult Pokemon game?

As reported by Dexerto, this could be the hardest Pokemon game to date, not a particularly high bar but an interesting one. This is likely a response to criticism of the last two Nintendo Switch games calling them far too easy to fully enjoy.

With the world set in the past and new unconventional catching methods coming out, it would make sense for this game to be harder. As skills and items are less refined, they are less easy to use.
