PERFECT PARTNER: EA has secured the rights to the four Majors thanks to its partnership with PGA of America

This announcement includes the 2021 and 2022 PGA Championship, which will be held at Kiawah Island Golf Resort and Southern Hills Country Club respectively.

That’s part of a partnership with PGA of America to virtually recreate the PGA Championship, letting you can play to with the historic Wanamaker Trophy and take in Champion’s Ceremony, and play as and against past PGA Champions.

RELEASE DATE REVEAL: EA confirm that PG Tour will arrive in 2022

As you can see above, EA has replied to their own tweet saying 'Coming 2022' - confirmation that PGA Tour will be released in 2022.

Despite not giving an exact date or month, this is the first instance where EA has stated a rough release time for the game.

That initial release kicked off with: "EA announced EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, a new next-gen golf video game, currently in development."

That essentially confirms the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it would be very surprising for the title to not arrive on PS4 and Xbox One.

It remains to be seen whether the title will arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch and Stadia.

Cover Star

We may have already seen the cover for EA Sports PGA Tour - with the Masters Tournament featuring.

IT'S IN THE GAME - The biggest golf tournament in the world features

Whether a current or legendary golfer will also appear remains to be seen.

One person we know it won't be is Tiger Woods who has secured an exclusive deal with 2K Sports.

Sticking with the Ryder Cup theme, we could see legends like Jack Nicklaus or Seve Ballesteros, with EA often keen on legendary editions for its sports titles.

STILL ON TOP - Rory McIlory still sits inside the world's top 5 players

Out of current pros, Rory McIlory will be the favourite - picking up from where he left off in 2015.

Dustin Johnson is the current world number 1, with Jon Rahm and PGA Tour 2K21 cover star Justin Thomas other contenders.

We've had the announcement, a potential cover - perhaps a trailer, or at least a teaser is next?

We will update this page as soon as we get a sniff of one, with perhaps an early peak coming any time from May.

For comparison, here's last year's PGA Tour 2K21 trailer:
