NHL 19: Dallas Stars Player Ratings, Roster & Top Prospects

Regardless of what the state of the rest of the team is, the dynamic duo of Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn will always make the Dallas Stars a tough team to beat in any game. While the Stars boast a top-class defenseman, a big and consistent goaltender, and two of the best forwards in the game, the rest of the team needs to step up to maintain their challenge for a playoff place. If they make it to the postseason, it will most likely be a short trip given the overall strength of the teams at the top of the Western Conference.

Tyler Seguin forms half of the Dallas Stars’ almost unplayable forward duo, and while Jamie Benn is the better all-around player, in NHL 19 Tyler Seguin is the most user-friendly for those looking to score goals. Last season, Seguin trailed his captain by a single point, but through 28 games of this season, he’s two points ahead of Benn with eight goals and 26 points.

John Klingberg, Defenseman, 87 OVR

John Klingberg is the necessary defensive lynchpin that great teams can form around. Still only 26-year-old and improving, he is the elite-level defenseman that the less experienced blueliners on the roster can look towards for guidance. In 2017/18, he tied for second among defensemen on points, only trailing the league-leading John Carlson’s haul of 68 by a single point. Klingberg required hand surgery at the start of November 2018 but started the season in good form with 13 points in 16 games.

Ben Bishop, Goaltender, 85 OVR

Big Ben Bishop has been able to come into the Dallas Stars and provide consistency and stability after years of what can only be described as calamity with the terrible tandem of Antti Niemi and Kari Lehtonen. For a team that couldn’t make it to the playoffs in the last campaign, Bishop’s 2.49 goals against average and .916 save percentage were admirable, but his 2.25 GAA and .925 save percentage this season has the lanky goalie in line for one of his best seasons as a starter.

NHL 19 Dallas Stars Roster

From the Day 1, September 13 update, this is how the Dallas Stars’ first lines start. The starting line for the Stars boasts a bit of everything with world-class scoring and playmaking present across the front three, as well as some added muscle from Jamie Benn. Esa Lindell works as a good defensive counter to John Klingberg’s offensive tendencies, while Ben Bishop is big enough to stifle any oncoming forward.

As it stands, the Dallas Stars are well stacked at center, but there is a good chance that Roope Hintz can improve to become more valuable as a bottom six center soon. A lot of his usage will depend on where some of Dallas’ many centers play, with the likes of Jason Spezza and Devin Shore often finding themselves on a wing. Hintz’s decent faceoff and physical stats make him serviceable in the game if needed.

The Dallas Stars boast a gigantic prospect pool in NHL 19 with almost every player type covered. There are many exciting young talents such as Ty Dellandrea, Albin Eriksson, Denis Gurianov, and Adam Mascherin preparing for life in the NHL, but by far the most anticipated of the batch, and most needed in the team right now, is two-way defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
