Sonic 2022 doesn't have a name or much information yet but it does have a small trailer. Here's what we know
Clocking in at just over 12 minutes, the recent Sonic Central event was light on time but dense with announcements.
In this, you can find news on the Sonic Colors remaster, alongside content packs coming to Twin Point Hospital, and a collection of classic Sonic games coming to modern consoles. Although all this information is nice, this isn't what you clicked on this page for.
In a trailer lasting a mere 32 seconds, the new Sonic trailer showed off a tiny glimpse into the new world the blue blur has found himself in.
It opens with the dense sounds of a forest, only interrupted by the pit-pat of Sonic's feet running on the grassy floor. As we finally focus on Sonic, an outline appears around him, much like that of Silver's telekinesis.
This look is merely a facade as the camera pans closer to his legs to reveal the shimmering of a computer effect. By the time his foot reaches the ground again, he is gone. This strange effect gives him a huge boost on movements, perhaps hinting at a new central power. Sonic Team pops up in the background of a temple or some ancient stone, only replaced by a strange symbol Sonic's blue outline draws.
This new game is hinting at some archaic being and strange new powers, linked to ancient foundations and computer age effects. It will likely be a combination of these two central ideas. The last important thing to note about this trailer are the platforms. In the bottom corner, we can see it is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch
