New monsters

New monsters included in the official trailers have caused excitement for the community. With new mechanics being brought in with the poster dragon, we are yet to see how this will affect gameplay.

Malzeno

The poster dragon for Sunbreak, Malzeno is an elder dragon who has been reported to "consume life". A leak a few months back described the dragon as being vampire-inspired. This can be seen by its gothic castle background featured in the May trailer.

Many fans are noticing the similarities between this elder and the anime Castlevania, another vampire-themed design.

Carapaceon

Carapaceon

The crab-looking monster has been sighted in Monster Hunter Rise before as an endemic life. However, an enlarged and angry version of it was in the second generation of the Monster Hunter series. Its return has been great for veteran hunters.

Astalos

Astalos

Astalos first appeared in Monster Hunter Generations. A flying wyvern who emits powerful electricity. Its appearance resembles an insect and is directly inspired by a glasswing butterfly.

Espinas

Espinas is another flying wyvern who was found in Monster Hunter Frontier Season 2.0. With a similar appearance to a Rathian, many hunters have mistaken the monster for her. Its main attack is the use of venom which has thick green plating for its defences.

Garangolm

Garangolm

Garangolm is a brand new monster. A mix of Rajang and Barroth, the armoured ape is as physical as Rajang by using its fists to pound hunters. When low enough, it becomes enraged and coats its arms with moss and magma to use elemental attacks.

Lunagaron

Lunagaron

A brand new variant of Odogaron. The Lunagaron is new to Sunbreak and utilises its snowy environment for some icy elemental attacks. It looks like the love-child of Tobi Kadachi and Odogaron from Monster Hunter Worlds and packs a punch just as hard.
