In partnership with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the mode will highlight some of the iconic players of the era and their stories of triumph over adversity.

Focussing on a particular player, the mode will take users on "an entertaining narrative journey through short informational videos, followed by gameplay reflecting important moments in that player’s career".

The Season One roster of players includes Leroy “Satchel” Paige, Jackie Robinson, Andrew “Rube” Foster, Hilton Smith, Hank Thompson, John Donaldson, Martin Dihigo, and John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil.

A deep dive into the Storylines mode took place on Thursday, 9 February, with Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick as a special guest to give some more insight into the players being introduced!

Changes to Road to the Show

Some exciting changes are coming to the Road to the Show game mode. Developers worked hard to improve the ball player hub interface, making it easier for players to navigate it. On-field training is also back, allowing players to find out which areas of their game need to be improved.

The biggest change was the addition of the face scan feature. It will help players become more immersed in the game, and improve the overall game experience. This way, users can feel like they are actually playing in the MLB.

Game Modes

We've seen a push to improve overall quality in the last few years, and most of that has come with the refinement of existing game modes.

Road to the Show got a major overhaul with MLB The Show 21, and MLB The Show 22 followed up with a big set of new features from March to October.

For many, the hope is that Franchise Mode is next, which has reportedly been working on Legacy Mode and may be in the process of being rebuilt from the ground up.

Of course, the big new addition will be the Storylines feature, so we are not sure if Sony San Diego will have put loads of work into other modes.

The main game modes in MLB The Show 23 will be:
