A Metal Gear Solid Remake Rumoured to Be in Production

A Metal Gear Solid remake has been rumoured to be in production for a long time but now, we have some more concrete information. Although fans can always hope it'll arrive, we've never seen as much as we know now.

Here's what you should know about all those leaks and rumours.

David Hayter Thinks It's in Development

In an interview with Dan Allen, a gaming YouTuber, David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake, said "I only had some confirmation that it might not be a rumour a couple of days ago, and even that was still a rumour… but now it’s an industry rumour, so that tends to be a little more accurate"

This was subsequently reported by VGC, pointing us in the right direction.

Sony Acquires Bluepoint

PlayStation Japan recently made a blunder whilst trying to announce their acquisition of Housemarque. In this, they put up a graphic of PlayStation buying them instead of Housemarque.

This was subsequently taken down but this is near confirmation that these plans are in place. It seems likely that Sony are waiting to announce Bluepoint's next game before they announce the acquisition officially. This brings us to that announcement.

Why It Might Happen

Moving from here, we can find a ResetEra user named KatharsisT. They are well known in the community and have been vetted meaning they are, in some way, well regarded.

In this thread, they suggested that MGS is getting a remake and that Bluepoint will be the team behind it. This was way back on April 12th this year so its earliness only further suggests why it is worth keeping an eye on. They were confident in this leak before even David Hayter was.

Why It Might Not Happen

Obviously, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. While we don't have confirmation, we have many rumours, some of which from within the games industry itself.

Unfortunately, all we can do from here is wait to find out more.
