2018 EU LCS Spring Split Playoffs: Team Vitality vs H2k
The 2018 EU LCS Spring Split playoffs are here, but will Vitality or H2k take home a quarterfinals victory?
Warning: spoilers below!
The playoffs are here! The top six placed teams during the regular 2018 EU LCS Spring Split season will now face each other in a playoffs battle to see which team will be crowned first place in Europe.
Although the top two placed teams from the regular season, Fnatic and G2 Esports, have already booked their places in the semifinals, only one spot remain open for the remaining two teams – Team Vitality and H2k.
Splyce, will face G2 in the semifinals, so either Vitality or H2k will take on Fnatic in their semifinals schedule.
Both teams will fight hard to win
In terms of the teams’ match history, Vitality and H2k are evenly matched. Although Vitality came out on top with a comprehensive victory during week one, H2k took back a win with a revamped roster during week five.
Both teams have also had ups and downs during the Spring Split, making it hard to decide which team should have the edge over the other.
Vitality started the 2018 EU LCS Spring Split with a bang, winning seven out of eight games by the end of week four, though their fortunes quickly turned and Vitality fell into a four game losing streak. They secured wins in the final weeks of the Spring Split, but it remains to be seen what quality of team will show up to their quarterfinals match.
H2k’s story is almost the reverse to Vitality’s. H2k struggled during the beginning of the 2018 EU LCS Spring Split, as their roster struggled to find synergy. As a result, they lost seven games by the end of week four.
However, to shake H2k’s results up, H2k signed mid laner Selfie in week four and jungler Shook in week five. Since then H2k have been on the up. Despite being near or at the bottom of the EU LCS leader board for weeks, H2k turned their luck around and secured an unexpected but well-deserved spot in the playoffs.
Who will adapt to a Bo5 format?
All playoff games will have a best of five format, despite the regular EU LCS season playing Bo1 matches. Although we have no way of knowing whether Vitality or H2k will have the edge in these longer encounters, it is well known that Jiizuke is Vitality’s main carry. If H2k consistently shut Jiizuke down, then victory is likely to fall in their favour. Likewise, if Vitality can shut down Shook and ADC Sheriff then Vitality may well cinch the victory, however expect a close battle between these two teams.
Vitality will face H2k on Saturday 24th March 2018. The first match is scheduled to begin at 5pm CET. You can catch the action as it unfolds on the LoL Esports YouTube channel.
