How to Change Weapons & Equip Shield in Chivalry 2

Chivalry 2 has just launched worldwide and with that comes plenty of intricate combat, blood and lots of shouting. Amidst all this turmoil, it can be easy to miss the small things. Changing weapons is such a crucial skill yet it is quite missable.

If you want to change weapons or equip a shield, this is what you should know.

Changing Weapons

Changing weapons is a rather easy affair. If you're playing on consoles (Xbox and PlayStation) you simply click left or right on the Dpad, this will start to cycle through your weapons on hand. Inversely, you can opt to just chuck your current item at an enemy by clicking the two bumpers which will equip your other weapon.

On PC, it is just as easy. Your equipment slots are attached to your number buttons, making your dominant weapon 1 and your secondary weapon 2. Just click one of those to swap between them. You can also just throw your equipment away here to get the next thing you want.

Equipping the Shield

Equipping a shield in Chivalry 2 is a little more complicated as it's not tied to your ability as a player. Instead, you have to level up the right class first to start chasing your opponents with the shield.

The shield is exclusively used by the footman class, a versatile and surprisingly agile class with lots of little benefits. To earn the shield, you have to use him until he gets to level 4. This is when you earn the man-at-arms class, the only one capable of using the shield.

This being said, if you want to use it early, you could opt to steal it from the floor of the battlefield. No one has to know.
