Genshin Impact: PS5 version confirmed by developer but bad news for Xbox fans

Sony players will continue to get preferential treatment from miHoYo when it comes to next-gen.

Genshin Impact will be coming to PS5 but there are ‘no plans’ for Xbox, the developer has confirmed.

Speaking to Twinfinite, developer miHoYo was asked if the game would be appearing on next-gen consoles. This is what they said:

"We have plans regarding next-gen consoles, and we will be announcing them as these plans take shape. We do not currently have plans to release the game on Xbox."

Of course, these plans can change over time, but right now it looks as though Sony is top of miHoYo’s list when it comes to next-gen.

What is Genshin Impact?

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action role-playing game, where you travel around the world clearing dungeons and caves of monsters.

It takes place in the colourful world of Teyvat, which is comprised of several nations. Each nation has its own element, and a God that’s associated with that.

The game follows a pair of twins who have been separated by an unknown God – the main narrative sees one of the twins searching for their lost sibling with the help of a companion called Paimon.

Genshin has been a hit ever since it launched in September, grossing more than $100m in 12 days, recouping the entire development and marketing budget.
