How to Unlock Co-op & Invite Friends in Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2's sheer size is very impressive, having huge buildings and dark tunnels. Needless to say, you may want a buddy to explore that world with you. This is what you need to know about starting co-op in Dying Light 2 and how to invite friends.

How to unlock the co-op in Dying Light 2

You can't start the game with your co-op buddy. You will first have to make your way through the tutorial and unlock the wider world Dying Light 2 before you can play co-op. If you and your friend start the game at the same time, you can both make your way through the tutorial and join up afterwards.

The game is finally out worldwide so hundreds of thousands of players will likely make their way into the game soon. You can play with your friends or strangers online, depending on how you want to tackle it.

There is currently no crossplay but that is confirmed to be worked on right now.

How to invite friends in Dying Light 2

Once you have finished the tutorial, go into the pause menu and find the "online" option. From here, you can simply host your world and invite any of your friends in. They then have to accept the invite and everyone will be ready to start.

If you want to avoid people joining your game, you can set your world offline from the options menu. Previously working on Dying Light and Dead Island, these are games well known for a vibrant and creative community. It seems this is just the start of where Dying Light 2 will go.

Although we don't have concrete plans for the next DLC, it seems likely that will also have co-op functionality. If you can't seem to go online, make sure to check your connection and access to the servers. You will need PS Plus and/or Xbox Live Gold to play the game on consoles.

The Nintendo Switch version won't arrive for some time but it seems likely that will have multiplayer too.
