Death Stranding arrived just a few years ago and managed to impress millions with its unique viewpoint and mechanics. Now, years later, Norman Reedus seems to have announced that a second title is in the works. Here's what we know about it so far.

Death Stranding 2 announced

In an interview with Leoedit, Norman Reedus was talking about his life, Walking Dead, Death Stranding. He talked about Death Stranding and told them that a second one was now in production. He said:

Okay, so you got the book going on, you’ve got the final season coming out, then the spinoff, and you’re filming Death Stranding, the video game.
We just started the second one.

The interviewer didn't press more on this topic so he immediately moved on to something else. This means we don't know how far along into production the game is. Given Norman Reedus is involved and he said they are working on it, it seems likely that it is in early production.

What could this mean for the future?

This means that Death Stranding must have done well enough to justify a sequel. With the recent rerelease of the game, it is clear that the team care about the IP greatly. If this continues to do well, we could see a third title after some time.

We don't yet know if it is an exclusive title but Hideo Kojima reaffirmed his relationship with Sony earlier this year. This means that there's a decent chance it could come exclusively to PlayStation.

We also don't know what console it will be on just yet. The first Death Stranding title was very impressive and really took advantage of the PS4's hardware. It seems likely that the next title will be current-gen. If any more news comes out, we will update you right here.
