Announcement

Announced almost half a decade ago, on August 21, 2017, Biomutant was introduced with a hectic announcement trailer.

This trailer sees our main character run through an undergrowth after being chased by a hulking goliath. He fights him with his sword only for the goliath to swing a mighty mace, missing him narrowly.

Just as he appears to be free, you see the glistening of eyes amidst the darkness. Needless to say, this trailer amassed some amount of hype showing a pretty world, unique theme, and interesting-looking baddies.

Platforms

As of right now, according to the official site, Biomutant is confirmed for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 and can be played via backwards compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X. They are aiming to have native current-gen support sometime after release.

Biomutant is not currently available on Nintendo Switch but they do say: "Only time will tell. For now, we are pinpoint-focused on executing an awesome release". If the game does well, we could possibly see a Switch release but nothing is certain right now.

What Is It About?

In Biomutant, you take on the role of a warrior in a land filled with mutated animals. Where the relics of mankind exist but man does not, you have to traverse through the lands telling your own story and helping/hurting those caught along the way.

You create your own character and align them with certain stats and values to build a character who represents you. It's an action RPG through and through. The story isn't set in style one but the story beats are as you have to tell your own tale through key decisions and actions.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Biomutant looks hectic and colourful, seeing many little animals fight in a pseudo kung fu style. You are equipped with a melee and ranged weapon and use both to execute combos in a way that's almost reminiscent of the likes of Bayonetta.

Outside of fighting, you will do a lot of exploring through Biomutant as you complete quests and climb tall mountains. The area is dense and filled with little things to explore.
