Bayonetta 3 Release Date and Gameplay Trailer Revealed at Nintendo Direct

After first being revealed in 2017, Bayonetta 3 finally has a release date, and even a new gameplay trailer!

Here's what we learned about the upcoming Nintendo Switch game from Nintendo Direct.

Release Date

Bayonetta 3 will release in 2022, though no more specific date was given at Nintendo Direct.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: Bayonetta 3 will finally arrive 5 years after its first reveal

This likely points to a late 2022 release date, but we'll have to wait and see as development continues. For a game first revealed in 2017 that went relatively silent after, it's just nice to finally have a window at all.

Gameplay Trailer

Bayonetta 3 looks to bring more of the iconic run and gun, shoot 'em up gameplay that's made the series so massive to begin with. And after a four-year wait, the game looks fantastic so far!

Cereza's back, and there's not a foe too large to stand in her way (or slow down her massive comboes).

Nintendo Direct Highlights

While Bayonetta 3 may have stolen the show, it certainly wasn't the only big Nintendo Direct reveal.

The rest of the show's highlights include:

  • Gameplay trailer and reveal for Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • New content for Splatoon 3, Return of the Mammalians, including new weapons and a story mode
  • Announcement that Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online (as well as member-exclusive wireless controllers)
  • Gameplay trailer and reveal for Metroid Dread
  • Trailer for upcoming Disco Elysium: Final Cut
  • Announcement and cast reveal for an upcoming Mario movie (featuring Chris Pratt as Mario and Jack Black as Bowser. Yeah, we don't know either.)

What's Next?

For now, Bayonetta fans are back to waiting for the next big Bayonetta 3 reveal. We expect, like Breath of the Wild 2, that this game's next big drop will be another trailer for a future Nintendo Direct.

Until that, 2022 can't come soon enough.
