Latest - Full Breakdown & Trailer

Following the reveal trailer stream, a full breakdown of Battlefield 2042 was released on the PS Blog.

It breaks down the maps, release date, and a whole lot more.

Release Date & When You Can Pre-order

While it leaked supposedly ahead of time from @_Tom_Henderson_, the release date was one week out. Battlefield 2042 will release on October 22, 2021, which was revealed during the livestream.

You can also pre-order the game on all platforms that its coming to. It will take a while to roll out to some retailers, but you can pre-order on places like Steam now. Keep checking your store of choice over the next day or two.

Pre-ordering any edition will also get you access to the closed beta later this summer.

Special Editions Leaked

Alongside the release date, the different editions of Battlefield 2042 leaked ahead of the official reveal.

Now, they have been confirmed as the below:

  • Standard Edition
  • Gold Edition
  • Ultimate Edition

Even after the stream, we don't know what will be included in each edition. However, if we were to guess, we'd say it has something to do with battle passes, extra cosmetics, and maybe even a free exclusive item or two.

Price

Battlefield 2042 will follow the price structure set by EA recently. Rather than setting the RRP at $70 or £70 as some PlayStation exclusives have been, it has an RRP of $60 or £55.

Of course, as soon as pre-orders are up on all retailers, we'll confirm the price. As always, you should also be able to get the game for slightly less than the RRP.

Platforms

While it has been designed for PS5 and Xbox Series X, the 'next' generation of consoles, Battlefield 2042 will also come to Xbox One and PS4 when it launches.

That is alongside PC, via Origin and Steam. It will not come to Nintendo Switch, and will probably not launch on Game Pass, although that's yet to be confirmed.

It's worth noting that the game supports 128 players on next-gen consoles and PC, but only 64 on PS4 and Xbox One.
