Ubisoft's Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is going to make the most of Snowdrop

Whether you're a fan of James Cameron's Avatar or not, Ubisoft's new title set in that world is going to be something worth keeping an eye on. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is utilising Ubisoft's Snowdrop Engine in an entirely new way and the team behind development have recently shared a Tech Showcase which offers us an exciting look at how the game is going to look and what features will be on offer.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Looks Insane

We know that every next-gen game has that "wow factor" at the moment, but Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora really looks like it's taking the medium to the next level.

In the Tech Showcase below, you can see various members of the development team talking about how they're using Ubisoft's Snowdrop Engine to make Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora the best it can be.

The upcoming Avatar game is going to feature dynamic weather and environments, ray-traced bioluminescence, and a World System that affects every NPC in-game.

The Snowdrop Engine's microdetail system allows them to bring a new level of detail to Pandora and make an in-game world that truly feels alive.

When Is It Coming Out?

At the moment, we don't know for sure when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is due to release specifically. The only release window we have is 2022 and, as you can imagine, this is vague and subject to change.

The second Avatar movie is slated to release on December 16th, 2022, so we could see Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora get a Holiday 2022 release to coincide with this.

At the moment, though, we just don't know for sure. There were rumours at one point that it was delayed until 2023, but this Tech Showcase seems to dismiss those. We're hoping Ubisoft will continue to share more in the coming months.
