Callisto Protocol - Is the Callisto Protocol a PUBG game?


PUBG and the Callisto Protocol have been two games which have ultimately been linked due to the publisher, Krafton.

With Krafton developing both of these huge titles, fans are desperate to hear that the two take place in the same universe.

However, some recent changes in the development of the game mean this isn't as clear-cut as before.

With many leaks of gameplay and hype rising, the community have questions.

So, let's take a look at whether the Callisto protocol is a PUBG game and how this developed during the game's development.

PUBG and the Callisto Protocol Timeline

When development began back in 2019, it was ultimately hot off the heels of PUBG.

PUBG was extremely popular with a large playerbase. However, since then, the hype has dwindled and the player base too.

The game fits quite roughly into the PUBG universe as the teams desperately tried to get the two pieces to fit.

However, as the game started to develop, it naturally began to move away from many ties to PUBG.

Is it a PUBG Game?

It was officially announced in November 2022 that the game is not linked to PUBG.

Glen Schofield, the founder of Striking Distance Studios commented on this to his CEO, Changhan Kim...

"Hey this would be much better, we feel, if it's not attached anymore. Saying it's attached is disingenuous"

The universes of the two may have some smaller ties, but there aren't many as the game reaches its release date.

Unfortunately, it's looking like these links may come in the form of easter eggs instead of direct references.
